LJ and Bailey Wright

Think you've totally missed the point chaps...

The bad reaction to Bailey being substituted on Saturday was because you've had many poor games in quick succession it wasn't a poor reaction to one bad performance, and quite rightly, fans are wondering if you are sometimes selected because you are Club Captain.

And Lee, you haven't done him any favours by continuing to select him no matter how badly he has been playing. It's also partly your fault he's been playing out of position because with proper recruitment we should have adequate cover with specialists in every position.

Sorry but many fans arent stupid, yes it's emotional but the frustration has built over a long period - nobody minds losing providing we feel all player she have left nothing on the pitch and have given their all..! That hasn't felt like the case, especially when well paid players can't pass a ball 10 yards or be bothered to run into space to create options...!

Sorry, rant over, I just get frustrated when being spoken to like we are idiots...

Whether he’s been shite for a few games or not, for the postition we are currently in, to treat one of our own the way a few hundred did was nothing short of disgraceful.

Helps no-one whatsoever.

People pay there money & invest there valuable free time.

if they wish to express there displeasure at the manager or team or a player it is there Choice.

league position maybe good but the losing run from Christmas has been criminal & the recent games dull.

The club doesn't force people to pay their money and invest valuable free time.

The booing of Wright was pathetic.

I'm sorry, that's rubbish. Before the Barnsley game people were singing Bailey's praise, ans saying flinty would have to earn his place back in the team after two clean sheets after his suspension. When Bailey came off, we still had a clean sheet.

People are frustrated and they're taking it out on him, simple as. He didn't deserve that reaction.

But if they do they're fully entitled to do what they want? You could pay your money and sit on the bogs for 90 minutes if you wanted.

Of course they are! That doesn't make the boo-ing any less pathetic though.

The only point on the OP I agree with is that LJ has done no favours by making him captain. Not because I don’t think he can captain, or is not the best captain (nobody knows if he is the actual leader in the dressing room), but because it gives people an easy out to criticise BW - i.e. “he only plays because he’s captain”.

FWIW I think BW did exceptionally well out of position most of the season. I also think LJ got it wrong on Monday, and BW amongst others was pony. However, I wasn’t alone at the start of the year in thinking that Wright and Baker were our best CH combo. He’s a decent Champ CH, who clearly talks to others which helps balance. What he’s not is a left sided CB with a hopelessly out of form Bryan next to him - and that, rather than making him captain, is where you can blame LJ correctly.

I’d like to see Flint trying to play on the left side where his distribution will be poorer than playing on his natural side.

Any good centre back is also made better by a good full back. Bailey had Bryan doing absolutely nothing to help him out.

Centre backs also need protection in front of them. With no Pack in front of the back 2, they had continual exposure.

So, in summary, the bloke was played out of position, with no support from his left back and no security in front of him.

I think he’s been set up to fail there. I don’t blame Bailey for that. I blame the manager for not picking a proper left back and not picking a proper defensive midfielder.

Wright is a decent enough defender at this level. But he’s no superman. Any of our defenders put into the same set of circumstances would also struggle.

Exactly my argument for when Maggers was being singled out.

No different

the club refer to us as customers so customers deserve decent service & a satisfying experience.

fans however take it as it comes but they done there best to kill the fans off

It’s completely different. It’s sport not a restaurant FFS. There’s no pre-set level of service to be attained.

Reaction to the substitution was absolute pathetic and uncalled for. If a player is doing a half arsed job then I could almost understand it, but to aim that at one of our hardest working players who has given it his absolute all, all season, whilst being asked to do a job that isn’t his natural one for most of it, was absolutely shit.

Between 0-1 shot on target in 90 minutes and unable to string a pass together with a   Team that made everyone wonder wtf he was playing at

Of course, I forgot Bailey Wright’s job was shots on target. He’s a defender for crying out loud. Remind me how many Brentford scored when he was on the pitch?

Can I take this moment, considering I  pay my money ( as a supporter) and invest my valuable free time on OTIB, to correct you?

It's their not there. FFS. The spelling and grammatical errors on here since Christmas  have been nothing short of relegation material and worse than dull.

Do people have to do physically windmill him off the pitch before it’s ok to call them out for being mindless *****?

Spot on MRR, however, you may have rather inadvertently created a double-space after Christmas.
