ExiledAjax
From Wikipedia on Pericarditis. It doesn't sound that bad. "Treatment in most cases is with NSAIDs and possibly colchicine. Steroids may be used if those are not appropriate. Typically symptoms improve in a few days to weeks but can occasionally last months. Complications can include cardiac tamponade, myocarditis, and constrictive pericarditis. It is a less common cause of chest pain. About 3 per 10,000 people are affected per year. Those most commonly affected are males between the ages of 20 and 50. Up to 30% of those affected have more than one episode." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericarditis

Normal treatment is an anti inflammatory like ibruforen to reduce the swelling. Problem with is that it can develop into other cardiac problems. Dr Balls
Hopefully nothing too serious in terms of the cause. All being well he will recover fully with no continuing problems with a course of appropriate anti-inflammatory medication, but probably the end of his season. After a rest, it should then be back to pre-season training & we should see how much he has developed from his time in League 2.

bs20ciderarmy
On loan Bristol City striker Shawn McCoulsky was diagnosed with pericarditis this weekend, and has returned to the club for further treatment. McCouslky, 21, who is currently on-loan at League Two side Newport County this season, and is their top goalscorer with 11 goals - including the winner in their FA Cup win over Championship club Leeds United. Assistant head coach Dean Holden spoke more on McCouslky’s condition in a press conference ahead of their crunch-match against Birmingham City on Tuesday. “Yeah he’s going through a tough time at the moment. They've found something just outside of his heart so he's gone for further tests” “The situation was flagged up by our physio, and Newport reacted really professionally and in a quick manner. They made us aware of it as quickly as they could.” “He’s been advised to stay away from exercise for the time being, and everyone at the club wishes him well.” wish him a healthy recovery!!
