The Run In.

So, ladies and gents, we are but left with just a handful of games remaining of the season and despite us being a bit pants a few too many times recently, we find ours still well in the mix at the end of the season.   For all its ups, downs and all that is left to come, it has been a very memorable season and one we can look back on fondly.  We can only hope that this win will restore some confidence to the team and we can put up a good fight for the playoffs, plenty of twists and turns still to come.

Remaining fixtures of the Playoff Challengers:

Derby County      5th 68pts - Wolves (Away) Burton (Away) Middlesborough (Home) Cardiff (Home) Aston Villa (Away) Barnsley (Home)

Millwall                6th 68pts - Sheff Utd (Away) Fulham (Home) Middlesborough (Away) Aston Villa (Home)

Middlesborough 7th 66pts - Bristol City (Home) Derby (Away) Millwall (Home) Ipswich (Away)

Bristol City           8th 65pts - Middlesborough (Away) Hull (Home) Forest (Away) Sheff Utd (Home)

Sheff Utd             9th 65pts - Millwall (Home) Birmingham (Away) Preston (Home) Bristol City (Away)

Brentford             10th 64pts - Fulham (Away) QPR (Home) Barnsley (Away) Hull (Home)

Preston NE          11th 63pts - QPR (Away) Norwich (Home) Sheff Utd (Away) Burton (Home)

Few!.......

What strikes me is just how many games the top 9 teams play each other, with 5th to 11th so compact as well, it really is anyone's guess to how this might turn out. Has to be said while Millwall and Derby are better placed, their run in's are as tough as they come.  Brentford and Preston have the easiest run in's of the chasing pack, whether they can capitalise on that and can make up the 4-5 point gap of the playoffs is another matter.  While it won't kill our playoff hopes completely off if we lost, a result at middlesborough would massively improve our chances and would set us up for two games with teams with nothing to play for (Lets home they've already got one eye on their holidays when we play them).

I can see this going all the way to the last game of the season, so lets all strap ourselves in and enjoy the ride!

No easy games in this league, simply 4 cup finals to go, then the play offs, and..............................................

Part of the evidence of this is the form table since the turn of the year, teams that have no real interest in either end of the table seem to be in good form. Our form may be bad, but Leeds fans must be crying into their pint pots these days.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. The table is out of the window now, gloves are off, and a pre play offs four match barny begins. Great, isnt it

It really would never a miracle for us to finish play-offs. Yet there is still a chance.

You look at the remaining games that Millwall and Boro have, Millwall play all from top 6, Boro not easy either.

For us to not finish play-offs, if we win all 3 remaining games, out of Millwall, Boro and Derby we can't have two teams winning 2 of their final 3.

Whilst this is entirely possible, given the close matchups I still believe if we win our 3 remaining games I still think we'll clinch play offs.

we need everything to go our way next weekend to make it really worth going to Forest. Sometimes its expensive, sometimes we win (once?!) and sometimes we take decent support there. Also the ground where we have an awful history of results and get mocked rotten for being the worst numbers (lowest numbers of  fans)they see all season

We’ve won away at Forest seven times, including in 2016, 2012, 2006....still a pretty bad record though....
