I know it's all doom and gloom at the moment, and I am meant to be calling for the managers head, or starting a witch hunt against Bristol sport but I thought it worth pointing out that we (almost) still have the playoffs in our own hands.

We have three winnable games left, with the last day being the hardest but a packed Ashton Gate that day could just give us the edge...

I have predicted the other relevant results for the season as follows...

Derby v Cardiff       draw

Millwall v Fulham   draw

Brum v Sheff Utd   away win

Brentford v QPR    home win

Derby v Boro          draw

preston v norwich  home win

Villa v Derby            home win

barnsley v brentford  draw

Sheff U v Preston   home win

Boro v Millwall      draw

Brentford v Hull   home win

Derby v Barnsley    home win

Ipswich v Boro     away win

millwall v Villa     draw

preston v Burton   home win

And if we win all of our remaining games then the table is something like this....

1 Wolverhampton Wanderers Wolverhampton Wanderers 46 31 9 6 84:40 44 102
2 Cardiff City Cardiff City 46 27 9 10 70:40 30 90
3 Fulham FC Fulham FC 46 25 14 7 78:45 33 89
4 Aston Villa Aston Villa 46 25 11 10 72:43 29 86
5 Middlesbrough FC Middlesbrough FC 46 21 11 14 65:45 20 74
6 Bristol City Bristol City 46 20 14 12 67:54 13 74
7 Derby County Derby County 46 19 16 11 66:48 18 73
8 Millwall FC Millwall FC 46 18 18 10 58:43 15 72
9 Brentford FC Brentford FC 46 19 15 12 64:51 13 72
10 Preston North End Preston North End 46 19 15 12 59:49 10 72
11 Sheffield United Sheffield United 46 21 9 16 63:54 9 72

It's all very much in our own hands, It doesn't need any freak results at all.....

How is it in our hands if it relies on other teams slipping up  there's at least 7 results you've listed there that would need to go "our" way and we'd have to string together 3 wins in a row - when did we last manage that?

The chances of us getting this freak set of results to fall in to place is pretty unlikely.

I think I might go to Wycombe on Saturday and invade the pitch as I am that confident we won't make the play offs. Just like when Rovers went there and managed to avoid relegation to the conference.

richwwtk - We're with you all the way. My son did exactly the same yesterday. Spookily like yours

Middlesborugh 74

Bristol City 74

Derby 73

Preston 73

Millwall 72

Brentford 72

Sheff U 72

Nightmare run-ins for Derby and Millwall. Lots playing each other.

Don't listen to the doom mongers - until we've lost the first game!!! Until then......

Bunch of bloody pessimists you lot.......

Beat Hull at home Saturday (very possible, our home form hasn't been awful)

Win at Forest (a little trickier, though they are on a worse run than us at present)

Then it's all down to a sunny Saturday in May. I can just imagine sitting there with everyone saying we'll never do it!

Hence the (almost).... I know it's not entirely in our hands, but the results I predicted included a lot that didn't necessarily go 'our way' and any changes to those scores could just as easily go for us as against us.

None of those results I predicted include anything remotely resembling a shock or against current form.

Here's the thing though, even if we do win the 3 games- and on paper we can- it's out of our hands. isn't it?

Example- I see Brentford getting 3 wins from their last 3. Millwall have 2 home games remaining...that's just 2 of the sides.

True, but it's also very possible indeed that we will get there. I gave Brentford two wins and a draw, and Millwalls games aren't exactly easy....

I had a bit of hope after Birmingham at home, thought maybe it could give us a bit of momentum- but 4 points, 5 teams and 3 games just too much tbh.

I can imagine it on the last day. 5 minutes to go, someone spreads an incorrect rumour about results elsewhere, followed by a premature pitch invasion.

It’s most definitely out of our hands, but if we can win the next two against sides with not much to play for, it will take the fight into last game of the season. That’s all we can hope for.

It’s barmy to give up the ghost when there’s still a chance no matter how slim.
