I still think that's true - do you want to sit through terrible football all season just to go up and get beaten soundly for another season.

It would be like sleeping with a supermodel for 30 seconds then living with her Gran.

No thanks.

As opposed to the festival of football we’ve been treated to since Christmas?

The argument that we are some sort of football purists while Cardiff are just kicking their way into the Premier League grows weaker and more desperate by the day.

Having made it to the Premier League (again), there is no reason why they might not be able to establish themselves and, over time, evolve to play a more attractive game. At least they get the opportunity to find out, unlike us.

Got to be said he and Cardiff team did a fantastic job to finish 2nd with limited resourses.  The other 5 in the top 6  are huge clubs with massive advantage over rest of division and teams that most picked to finish in those positions at start of season. At least another one of them will be out of way next season.

Did we not stick Flint up front yesterday and launch long balls? And done the same with Djuric many times this season. Cardiff have played more football than us in the second half of this season.

Not at all.

I just detest Cardiff with a passion. Getting chased by a mob of their fans at 14 years old and on a separate occasion getting coins, bricks and bottles of piss thrown at you at their ground tends to do that to you.

Their fans (the ones who don’t piss in bottles and throw it at you) are horrible, gloating belittling types in the main as well.

Given all that, why would I congratulate them on their promotion?

Brains bitter?

I too was at the game you might be referring to. It wasn’t the best admittedly.

Thing is though that’s I’m afraid what happens sometimes. Didn’t make me bitter. Anything but.

Cardiff is a great city with passionate fans and passionate people.

But back to topic. Warnock is as many have said nothing more than a pantomime villain. Like Holloway.

Strip that away and judge them on their - or in Warnock’s case - his achievements.

And then compare that to yesterday’s lap of appreciation.....

You ever been to Bute Town?

It's clearly a media persona his act, but I'm not a fan of Warnock. 8 promotions is a terrific achievement though- a real specialist.

Not to be churlish,. but not entirely certain about limited resources- he may not have spent so much but I read they made a loss of £21m last year- granted the 3 year figure was still most likely within FFP but that's really pushing it. Could have been a legacy of past spending/wages too tbh.

A lot of people fail to remember that promotion is only one part of the equation.

Cardiff have already been in the Premier League in the last decade, and it didn't go too well for them. They've got a manager that is great at winning promotion, but with not such a great record in the Premier League, so unless Tan is going to open his chequebook I can see them ending up relegated and back to square one.

It'll be interesting to see how they do this time around, but I'm not convinced that Colin will be there come January.

No doubt a fantastic achievement. By his own reckoning, it’s his biggest achievement in long career.

Well done for a very successful season with Cardiff.

I still wouldn’t want him here.

Not so sure he will be there for the start of the season. I don't think he enjoys managing in the Premier League.

Such a turnaround from the comments I read before we played you at Cardiff this season. Comment after comment all reading pretty much the same, how we'd fail, how nobody would ever want Warnock within a mile of your club etc etc etc.

I knew it was all bollocks.

If you ever have the chance, throw a big contract at the feller. You'd love him if he were at your club.

Do you think he'll stay with you? Sure I read that he doesn't like managing in the premier League.

Not too sure to be honest mate. I think he's enjoying the buzz around the place at the minute.. I personally think he might fancy another stab at it. What's he got to lose?

:clap:No, not all of us hate Warnock, I would have loved him here, he is not only a character but a bl***y good motivator, enjoy PL, my younger bro is a Saints fan and is still biting his nails as you could be replacing him :sad26:

I rate Warnock and yet again he has done the business.

Congratulations to him - and although I don’t like his style of football I would rather we were in Cardiff’s position right now.

This doesn’t mean I want Lee sacked - FFS it’s been a good season, but I envy Cardiff’s position and congrats where due to the wily old fox.

Read 2 different sets of figures then!

Either way, it's not quite a shoestring budget- top half?

The figure you quoted was for the 2015/2016 season....they reduced their players’ salaries by £5m during the 2016/2017 season....yet they still managed promotion to the premier league the season after....great financial and football management....

Yet, they spent several million on Madine. They also were in Year 4 of parachute payments, so surely an element of shit or bust too?

They lost 21 million in a recent season too- was either 15/16 or last season...lost 8.7 million the year before.

Three year rolling FFP? Means they could lose only 9.3million this year or they would be in breach.

I mean, there's no doubting he's done an excellent job there- but can someone point me to the 'no money' evidence?

Wages £25.41m last season, not huge but not a shoestring either.

Have a look at wage bill for this season. It's plummeted.

We had a lot of dead weight when he joined.. e.g Le Fondre on our books at £25,000 a week. So this isn't a fair reflection at all

I think it’s more like the people slating him have gone in to hiding now.

I will have a look- and I did think that may have played a part for sure. Deadwood he couldn't move on.

What exactly is 'shit or bust'?

I've seen this used several times on here... but... shit = bad, and bust = bad. Surely the idea is that one outcome is good and the other bad, no?
