I think England are going to have some tough decisions to make after this series because there are a few glaring issues, none of which are easily dealt with.

Stoneman isn’t up to it as a fielder or opening batsmen and his age is against him improving. I can see the issue for the selectors as no one is demanding to be picked.

Malan is fine when it’s a bouncy pitch but chuck a slow full length at him and he struggles. Yes Hildreth is an option but I don’t really think he’s the answer in the long run and that’s where they need to be looking, a bit like with the selection of Bess.

Root needs the captaincy taken away but who do you give it too??

I would stick with Bayliss until the winter and then promote Farbrace or bring Steve Rhodes or Dawson in. Although I do have a soft spot for Mickey Arthur.

Well played lads. Dig in tomorrow and see where it gets us with a bit of the weather gods to add to the equation

Nothing to prove for either of them now. If we could get another 100 - 120 it would at least give us something to bowl at and there is always the weather.:fingerscrossed:

Get Dom in the team as a specialist batsman at this rate, bring Jack back in as a spinner and have the west country spin twins in tandem

At least Max might get some 4 day CC action then

Jack`s no slouch with the bat either, he can do a lot more than just hold an end up. I`d definitely have either of them over Rashid, Ali or Crane at the moment (and that`s not just county bias).

Picking a player when he's bang in form rather than waiting too long. What is this witchcraft?

It's not blistering early season form though, its more a case of Stoneman needed to be dropped and they're picking a former player whose doing fairly well. Jennings' form isn't enough that it would be questioning the place of someone if Stoneman had been doing alright. Rory Burns has hit more runs for example.
