Personally not keen on foreign betting companies as of recently. Might not be one, could be Thatchers, but will be another step towards death by a thousand cuts if it is.

Lancer Scott were harmless.

Really don’t see the problem. It’s a shirt sponsor , so what. We need to maximise commercial output to try and compete wages wise with other clubs. Not happy with some things ie bean head going but not this.

Wouldn’t trust a word coming out of the club right now. Would Lancer Scott give up a valuable brand placement out of choice? I’m sure there’s nothing untoward going on, but the way the story on the website comes across lacks any kind of credibility.

Indeed it is! Bought a pint in sunny Western Australia a couple of years ago. Thatchers would great across the front of the new City shirt.

Personally I don't have any morale issues if it's a betting company. I would if it was a porn company tho........

Yes Robbored, Thatchers Gold has been here in Tallinn for a few years now,  truly an International loved brand now!

not with the payoff they'll get for us cancelling it

They never had a pay off....as mentioned last week it got quite nasty between the two . Lancer Scott have been allowed to keep their executive box for the next four seasons. Jolly decent of BS !!!

Have the 15ers yet held their annual shirt sponsorship raffle? Should we club together to buy a ticket because @Bar BS3 has come up with the logo I'd love to see on their shirts.

Unfortunately they aren't doing it this year. The 1883 club is still running and more prizes are available but not shirt sponsorship ( Already sorted apparently, I was told who it was but I'm sworn to secrecy:)). I was at the draw when the prizes were drawn (in what was a staggeringly professional un Rovers like set up) but I was very drunk and cannot remember who won what :)

Back in the day it used to really get on my t1ts that the stinkies were sponsored by Toshiba and we had Hirerite.

The only time I've ever been remotely jealous of that lot.

Sponsor envy is one of the many things wrong with modern football!

Please be sponsored by the UWE, I would laugh my head off!

As for the Thatchers end, you've also got a total bell end but enough about Henbury. ;)

Can't trust a word? The club statement basically says that Lancer Scott stepped aside. What's not to trust about that?

It looks like the club have received a massive offer for sponsorship that was too good to turn down so they've spoken to Lancer Scott and offered a deal to clear the space for the new company.

If you signed a contract for a job at £100 per day for four years and someone came along offering you £500 a day for two years what would you want to do?

Stop trying to find another point to complain about.

They must have terrible lawyers if they entered into a 4 year deal with no exit penalties....

Oh dear, see a post just a little bit further up for the truth. They have been waiting on from a very great height

Really, how about they are fans like you and me. Just a bit better off who could afford to sponsor our club when let's face it we were struggling g to attract anybody else. Big offer comes along, nice knowing you thanks bye then!

I got the sense that Lancer Scott stepped in when there was a prospect of no other sponsorship deal on the table. Let's face it, we've never really attracted the big multinationals. The fans would have probably liked a shirt without sponsorship but it would have been commercial humiliation. Legal agreement or not, part of the new deal would be some form of financial contribution to thank Lancer Scott for saving our blushes.

I remember when we had Auto Windscreens on our shirts for a season or two and I really thought we'd reached the big time.

Everyone wants more money in the club right?

Everyone really looks at our kit and says "Oh Lancer Scott FC" right?

Everyone here moaning has used Lancer Scott personally right?

Come on.

We all want progress for this club. If you think that is going to come by not making any cutthroat decisions and playing it like it's "the good old days", you're going to be very very disappointed. We need all the commercial opportunities we can get to push this club as far as possible. This is an opportunity to help that. Our identity isn't changing, just a different company on the front of a shirt. It doesn't matter. Money talks. Sad but true.

Barcelona getting £188M over four years for having the word 'Rakuten' on their shirts.

Manchester Reds getting £53M per year from Chevrolet.

Time to put all moral principles aside and take any money on offer. Unless it is the word 'Trump' then I'd definitely stick with Lancer Scott.
