Yep, you only have to look at Burnley and see how bad they're doing to realise that keeping with tradition leaves you miles behind. Ah wait..

The same Burnley sponsored by a Philippines gambling company?

And for clarity, I’m referring to the gap between clubs with parachute payments in the Championship and those without. I think there’s a big argument to support the fact that establishing in the premier league is considerably easier than getting there.

just talking off the top of my head, but a Casino is due to open in Bath (Century Casino's). No real idea how to measure them in terms of opposition like Mansion Casino's (ex sponsors of Tottenham and current/ex sponsors of Bournemouth and Palace), but it's a thought and I'm just adding it to the mix of intrigue.

I think Junior has got the taste for nausing off sections of our fanbase now:

- England flag card display banned v Cardiff

- Comic Sans on training tops

- Coming up with the Bristol 'Bears'

- Hashtags on shirts

- Daft gifs

- Punishing the disabled/kids on season ticket prices

They'll be something wacky on the shirts no doubt, some sort of random robin emblem somewhere wouldn't surprise me. Blue on the away kit also wouldn't be a shock.

Whoa, WHOA.

I’ll give you comic sans and hashtags but you take that back about the GIFs. :redcard:

I think the other thing is the way that the two products are marketed. Alcohol advertisers are now required to be extremely careful not to promote harmful levels of drinking and, with any alcohol advert you care to name, the subtle implication it gives are that night outs are an occasional treat and I can't think of an advert that promotes daytime drinking, for example.

What disturbs me with gambling adverts - especially around sport - is the way they give the impression gambling is an essential part of the experience, everyone else is doing and you are missing out if you're not putting a bet on every result, every goalscorer etc. I think they are banning the in-play betting adverts next season and I think that will make a huge difference. But I do think the adverts we see normalise things and, with the number of kids watching, I don't personally think betting - or indeed alcohol, chocolate or sugary drinks - should be advertised or associated with football coverage.

Personally, if we have a gambling company on our shirt, I'll skip off buying a shirt this year and continue to wear last season's shirt.

being told to drink responsibly, if anything makes me want to go out and get plastered it's that nanny state crap!!

Got a feeling there could be some robins on the shirt somewhere other than the badge. They were using them with the season ticket advertising. I hope it's not some massive art

Exactly this. I probably should not reveal this* but the major controversy is the home shirt is black with a red outline of robins on it. It's a massive change on previous kits.

*Especially as I'm not ITK and am completely making this up.

Yeah - it's not so much the "drink responsibility" bit, which I think everyone ignores anyway. It's more what adverts present as "usual" behaviour. The more you give the impression everyone else is doing something, the more people think everyone else is doing it. and give themselves permission to do it too. I don't think anyone should be telling people what they should or should not be doing - it's more how things are implied...

Can't believe I actually checked, but you've spelt it Britsol City

Your Wingdings must be different from my Wingdings.  I'm using Windows for Workgroups 3.0 ;)  I can't believe you made me check the accuracy of my "work"!

Think you might be right. I have a feeling the home kit might be atrocious and not kept simple i.e. robins flying all over it.

Blue on the away kit genuinely wouldn't bother me, providing it is the original dark (and I mean dark) navy blue used in our original early kits.

Never mind the new shirt, what about the training kit, I want to know which new font boy wonder has discovered on Microsoft Word this year.

My money is on Arial Black or Impact.

Note to self.  Read whole thread before posting.  Someone else got there first.

I don't care what the new kit looks like, it's only here for one season and I won't be buying it anyway

I don't care who the new sponsor is. I bet responsibly, it is very easy to do

Couldn't give a rats arse if the away kit is old school Bristol City blue

But if the robin isn't back, in a roundel, I'm kicking right off

See I’ve always absolutely detested that ‘lads/bantz’ cringe culture. And so I don’t partake in it. It’s that easy.

Frankly if you’re that easily led that an advert on the telly makes you go out and do something that you don’t already want to do that’s a wider issue that actually has nothing to do with gambling per se.

If you see that advert and it actually encourages you to go out and spaff your rent money on the football, what else do you do because you see it on the telly?

Big Dave the bricky sat shaving his legs with a Venus razor scoffing a box of Tofiffee whilst filing a personal injury claim and sponsoring a blind donkey because the TV made it look so good?!

Not just TV adverts but shirt sponsors. The 2002/03 summer of Chupa Chups were dark days.

(Mis)read this quickly and thought it said 'Anal Black' which would be a very curious colour of shoe polish.
