I believe the app above may be for ‘Wanbo Sports’ - appears to be linked to ManBetX (Crystal Palace sponsor)

Possibly interesting Reddit article -

Another interesting article on premier league clubs and gambling sponsorship

To be honest, I couldn't give the fury crack of a rat's ass what goes on the front of our shirts. It's more about the people who wear it and their ability to drive the club forward.

I understand some people will be uneasy about a betting sponsor but it hasn't even been confirmed yet so we need to be careful. At the end of the day we are moving in to an era where we have to compete with some very big teams that have a legacy we, with our handful of years in the top flight can only wish for. To do that we have to accept a lot of potentially unpalatable things. The big question is, are we as a fans prepared to do that? It's a tricky path to go down but its the road to success in modern football however distasteful we find it.

There are some things that I wouldn’t want to see on the front of our shirt, but a betting company logo isn’t one of them. I’m personally not a big gambler (I do the postcode lottery), but I’m not offended by it. Gambling can be addictive, but as pointed out by many so can alcohol. Both can be pleasurable if kept within personal limits. City have shown a responsible attitude towards its youth groups in the past by not allowing alcohol ads on junior shirts, so I trust them to be so again.

I don’t think you quite grasp the concept and reasoning behind sponsorship..!

If the highest bidder wanted to put the shite imoji on the front of the shirt, then that’s what would be there. It’s business!

Have the 15ers yet held their annual shirt sponsorship raffle? Should we club together to buy a ticket because @Bar BS3 has come up with the logo I'd love to see on their shirts.

Had a quick look through the thread but couldn't see anything about it. But class from Lancer Scott I'm sure/hope they are compensated in some way but we're lucky that they seem to be genuine fans as well as sponsors and moved out the way to give us the opportunity.

I work in iGaming and have put feelers out already to try and find out if any company from the gaming world is involved. Fingers crossed it is a betting firm. :D

International bookmaker / betting company from Asia apparently. That was the rumour on here a few weeks back.

I am finding it hard to get my head around the combination of Steve Lansdown and betting sponsorship; it just sounds anathema. Would be extremely disappointed if SL capitulates to the horrific gambling sector and would bury any idea I ever have of buying a shirt although the price usually buries any thoughts of that from hovering.

I don't buy the shirt so it doesn't bother me too much (Sound like Robbored here)

But hopefully doesn't look as awful/big as the logo on the Palace kit does.

Image result for palace kit 1718

And KiddieBet for the youngsters then? Yes lets ram it down everyone's throat. BabyBet, GrannyBet, EnterTheGateOnlyIfYouBet, WedontgiveashitBet, GetAddictedbet, SuicideBet. .. all are Asian based i believe.

Anyway, i don't believe it. Mr Lansdown is better than that. I have every confidence.

HSBC, Hutchison Wampoa, Dai Ichi, Toyota ... they sound better.

Really? SL made his fortune off the back of the stocks and shares industry. The ruination of many a gambler.

The reality is probably that JL - as Chief Exec etc - is the man responsible for this.

Do clubs normally reveal the value of the deal . Or will it be like a signing. Undisclosed. Be interesting to see the value between the two sponsors

Heritage is a word no longer important in the minds of the modern football club.

The club would rather sell a million plastic lunchboxes in Asia than fill the stadium with bristolians.

Personally not keen on foreign betting companies as of recently. Might not be one, could be Thatchers, but will be another step towards death by a thousand cuts if it is.

Lancer Scott were harmless.

Really don’t see the problem. It’s a shirt sponsor , so what. We need to maximise commercial output to try and compete wages wise with other clubs. Not happy with some things ie bean head going but not this.

Wouldn’t trust a word coming out of the club right now. Would Lancer Scott give up a valuable brand placement out of choice? I’m sure there’s nothing untoward going on, but the way the story on the website comes across lacks any kind of credibility.

So we’re expecting a big international gaming company to sponsor our shirts . Meanwhile in horfield it has been confirmed that the arcade on Weston pier are sponsoring the gas . With every season ticket holder getting a free bag of candy floss

Back in the day it used to really get on my t1ts that the stinkies were sponsored by Toshiba and we had Hirerite.

The only time I've ever been remotely jealous of that lot.

This is my plan:-

1) Win the lottery

2) Start a company called "One man went to burn ............ "

3) Sponsor shirts for BCFC for next 50 years.

Am I wrong in any way??

Indeed it is! Bought a pint in sunny Western Australia a couple of years ago. Thatchers would great across the front of the new City shirt.

Personally I don't have any morale issues if it's a betting company. I would if it was a porn company tho........

Yes Robbored, Thatchers Gold has been here in Tallinn for a few years now,  truly an International loved brand now!

Unfortunately they aren't doing it this year. The 1883 club is still running and more prizes are available but not shirt sponsorship ( Already sorted apparently, I was told who it was but I'm sworn to secrecy:)). I was at the draw when the prizes were drawn (in what was a staggeringly professional un Rovers like set up) but I was very drunk and cannot remember who won what :)

Please be sponsored by the UWE, I would laugh my head off!

As for the Thatchers end, you've also got a total bell end but enough about Henbury. ;)

Can't trust a word? The club statement basically says that Lancer Scott stepped aside. What's not to trust about that?

It looks like the club have received a massive offer for sponsorship that was too good to turn down so they've spoken to Lancer Scott and offered a deal to clear the space for the new company.

If you signed a contract for a job at £100 per day for four years and someone came along offering you £500 a day for two years what would you want to do?

Stop trying to find another point to complain about.

They must have terrible lawyers if they entered into a 4 year deal with no exit penalties....

Really, how about they are fans like you and me. Just a bit better off who could afford to sponsor our club when let's face it we were struggling g to attract anybody else. Big offer comes along, nice knowing you thanks bye then!

I got the sense that Lancer Scott stepped in when there was a prospect of no other sponsorship deal on the table. Let's face it, we've never really attracted the big multinationals. The fans would have probably liked a shirt without sponsorship but it would have been commercial humiliation. Legal agreement or not, part of the new deal would be some form of financial contribution to thank Lancer Scott for saving our blushes.

I remember when we had Auto Windscreens on our shirts for a season or two and I really thought we'd reached the big time.

Everyone wants more money in the club right?

Everyone really looks at our kit and says "Oh Lancer Scott FC" right?

Everyone here moaning has used Lancer Scott personally right?

Come on.

We all want progress for this club. If you think that is going to come by not making any cutthroat decisions and playing it like it's "the good old days", you're going to be very very disappointed. We need all the commercial opportunities we can get to push this club as far as possible. This is an opportunity to help that. Our identity isn't changing, just a different company on the front of a shirt. It doesn't matter. Money talks. Sad but true.

Barcelona getting £188M over four years for having the word 'Rakuten' on their shirts.

Manchester Reds getting £53M per year from Chevrolet.

Time to put all moral principles aside and take any money on offer. Unless it is the word 'Trump' then I'd definitely stick with Lancer Scott.

Give it a few years and these gambling sponsorships will be outlawed on shirts, and rightly so. Similar to what they did with the general eradication of alcohol sponsors in the Premier League. We're already bombarded with betting advertisements as football fans, and while Joey Barton is an idiot he makes some fantastic points about the proliferation of gambling-related marketing in football.

My point was that this sort of commercial agreement would be governed by a raft of legal documentation. No way would BCFC just be able to say ‘thanks very much, goodbye’ halfway through the deal without financial penalty, assuming LS have a semi competent commercial person/people

Good. People want us to act like a massive club on a high budget so if that’s to happen we need to get the best commercial deals available and I can’t imagine Lancer Scott can match the financial clout if it is a big betting company.

Spot on.....there was probably a clause in the agreement with Lancer along the lines of....’if a third party offers more sponsorship dosh than you then we reserve the right to cancel your agreement and we’ll compensate you accordingly....’ as you say, people want us act like a bigger club so we need to maximise revenue through commercial deals....it wasn’t so long ago our shirt sponsor was ‘Bristol Trade Centre’ - absolutely no disrespect intended to that local organisation - we should always be thankful for any financial support - but I doubt they paid too much to get that exposure....and we were a championship club at that time too...

Is it an international online betting company looking to promote themselves in the UK markets?

If so, Wally better know you've been 'gasumped' (see what I did there??? I'll get me coat...)

However they remain as our prinicple construction partners.... with an arena build on the Wickes site around the corner, you can guarantee that LS are going to get some serious Wonga from us very shortly.

I'll throw this in without any ITK but could it something with a link to Botswana?

SL has business interests there.

I, personally, would be disappointed if it was a gambling company. All the addictive pastimes are not really my cup of tea. Broke the smoking habit over forty years ago, enjoy a half bottle of red three times a week and haven't set foot in a betting shop since getting very lucky on two classic horse races in the first year bookies became legitimate (1962?)

But whoever is the new sponsor, it will be wrong for some. SL cannot win 100% support for this one.
