The current set up is a hell of a lot more professional than the last few decades. You seem to move the goalposts to suit every argument you have.

Exactly this. The likes of @Ivorguy seem to wish the club 'pushed themselves to the top flight' and are 'amateur'  but when steps are taken to move in that direction it's 'ruthless and unethical'

Do you honestly think that a shirt sponsor's revenue is going to get City into the Prem?

I've done LOTS of business with Malta based Swedish gaming folk, and if it helps anyone, you could not meet nicer more decent people. I understand that people have issues with the morality of gaming and rightly so in some cases, but this at least should put your mind at rest about businesses in far off lands that are syphoning money into despot regimes. Swedish techies in Malta are about as chilled and well meaning as you could find.

If anyone is that gullible to follow passive advertising more fool them and, no, I didn’t smoke Piccadilly cigarettes because Regan did on the Sweeney! :sad26:

No, but a profressional attitude that seeks to improve every aspect of the club might.

Perhaps a professional attitude to principle would be better in the long run. I can't see how taking on a sponsor who is not at all well known and in online betting would improve any aspect of the club, in fact,  apart from probably a few quid more,  I really don't see the point of changing from the local company of Lancing Scott.

And I didn't smoke Bristol Cigs because I was born there and didn't want to be alone,  mind you the advert was pretty good.

Not overly pleased by the name, we will be known as Dunderheads

Not bothered by them being a gambling company

They are small but very fast growing. Set up 2 years ago and already turning over 10m Euros a quarter, with only 20 staff. No doubt now looking to grow even faster in the UK by sponsoring a very significant well regarded football club.

Now, lets have plenty of Thunderstruck played at the Gate!

durr, you support City - red obviously!

What are you, some sort of dunderhead? ;)

To be honest I’m not that gullible to bet my Lancer Scott house with banging security provided by Thorn on a spin of a wheel. Instead I will sell my car back to Bristol Trade Centre and use the cash from that. If I lose I may have trouble getting to my job which I got through  Sanderson recruitment on Monday but a few more Blackthorns will ease the pain and I can always hire transport from Hirerite

I`ve been meaning to ask, did you ever get Poplar Insulation to do your loft?

Small margins throughout the club - on and off the pitch.

If a well known Bristol based financial services firm stumped up £30m a year then maybe even Ashton and LJ would buy enough quality to get us there.

I would imagine that it's down to pure numbers. If the club can get significantly more out of Dunder than Lancing Scott then I suppose that's it. Think we can expect more to come - I've recently seen 'sleeve sponsors'. Also, well do I remember a few years ago going to a game at Huddersfield when they had sponsored corners. (Sponsored corners? I ask you: 'This corner brought up you by Everest Windows').

Some will see all this as a further evidence of the club being dominated by money and business and hate it. I get it and part of me feels the same but the the past wasn't as great as all that, with its crappy stadiums, drunkenness, racism, violence and players on wage-slave contracts.

Progress eh?

It’s a shirt sponsor ffs how people get their knickers in a twist over something so trivial I’ll never know

If people choose to bet that’s their choice, just like everything else in life, personally I have never looked at a football shirt and thought hmmm could do with some of that, ive never taken any notice of anyone’s shirt sponsors tbh.

Personally, I don’t gamble. And having a name on the shirt whom I’ve no idea what they do, isn’t gonna make me start gambling.

They can spend all the money in the world on advertising casino’s and betting, it doesn’t work on me.

Lord help this forum if we ever did something actually controversial....

Like shafting the disabled over and over again?

Some care and the rest are happy to turn a blind eye, seems to be the rule of thumb.
