EnderMB Posted June 15, 2018 Report Share Posted June 15, 2018 Another point to add is that with rising costs for hosting, few countries are hosting on their own, which is why we're seeing a lot of joint bids. It's entirely likely that England will never host it again, because FIFA certainly won't want England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland hosting the tournament. I believe i read that Mexico will host 10 games and Canada will host 10 so that something like 60 games in the US. I think we will see this happen more often going forward as the tournament goes up to 48 teams now and not many countries will have the stadiums to host that many group games in such a short period. (Incidently trade that, without the complicity of their fellow native countrymen, would not have been possible, -that part is always conveniently overlooked) Wars we have engaged in the name of Empire etc etc, not something to necessarily be proud of now when judged in distant hindsight, but the good we gave to the World as legacy of our time in various places is undeniable too, the British Empire gave lots as well as took away... We continue to 'pay for it all' to this day.. Why doesn't 'Independence' mean just that, go it alone. Whatever ill's we have inflicted, it's been pretty well balanced with benefits too.
