Leveller
“Carthago delenda est” (Cato the Elder). Carthage must be destroyed. For many years, Ancient Rome’s main rival in the Mediterranean was the Phoenician state of Carthage, just across the water in modern Tunisia - the ruins are on the edge of Tunis. Carthage was Rome’s bugbear and its general Hannibal famously crossed the Alps with his army and elephants and won a stunning victory in Italy at the battle of Cannae. This rivalry was all consuming, and the politician Cato got into the habit of ending every speech in the Senate with the words “and Carthage must be destroyed”, whatever the subject being debated. Eventually the Romans did crush Carthage, but it was their toughest task in history. So beware underestimating battlers from Tunis, and let’s hope they don’t have any bloody elephants! On TalkSport this morning it was pointed out that Tunisia only lost 1-0 to Spain in the 85th min and that they're no mugs. They're fans think that England are defensively poor. Id settle for 1-0 win. Undy English
Hannibal only made it across the Alps with his elephants and army by using a little trick with wine to break large stones that blocked their paths. Ironic that now Tunisians aren't allowed to touch the stuff!

handsofclay
Latin Joke: A centurion goes into a bar and asks the bartender for a martinus. 'Are you sure it's a martinus you want,' replied the bartender, 'and not a martini?' 'Look,' responded the centurion grabbing the bartender by his toga, 'if I wanted a double I would've ******* asked for one!'
