Clubshop

Recommended Posts

Seriously the clubshop is a joke , stood in the snake like ridiculous que for 30 mins yesterday with the boy to get his shirt , the whole layout is truly awful and really needs to be sorted out , we have a lovely ground with ample space but cram the worst clubshop in I’ve ever seen I honestly believe the old one was a better layout at least you could que in a straight line so everyone can see the end of the  que , city must lose money on impulse buys , is there any plans to change the layout , improve or move the club shop?

I’m amazed , at this time of season that they don’t utilise a  marquee or similar behind the south stand , especially for first two or three Home games selling just say the replica Shirts only For speed / efficiency relieving pressure on the shop for things like t shirts , training tops etc etc

Or - an even better idea: a bigger shop!

As soon as the stadium was built we all said the shop is too small for the development but it's there now so not much we can really do but put up with it for now.

Only thing we can do as the stadium potentially develops more in future is create a new club shop and repurpose the current one.

Agree but I guess the6 would argue that for %90 of time the shop space is more than adequate (FWIW I think it’s dire for a revamped £50m stadium when we are trying to maximise our income

I would have thought an additional space that could be utilised for peak periods / days would be a sensible idea

There was a little  'hut' next to the fish and chip van and the stage in the fan village, that was selling shirts. Agree that the shop is totally inadequate given it now sells rugby and basketball merch as well.

The best thing all round would be to build a big shop on the wickes site when its cleared, and use the existing one for extra sports bar seating.

A bit like the extra stall they had behind the South Stand yesterday stocked with replica shirts?

Good attempt

Thought you might have worked out that clearly lots weren’t aware , or it didn’t work or had enough capacity - the queues to even get into the shop

Thankfully don’t bother with the shop

The whole amount of people in that area with fans village etc is stupid.

One day the club will work out they have to shut half the car park on match days - make that the main fans village area and this will open up the walkways and club shop.

Still be enough spaces left for disabled etc.

Indeed - that helps people who live miles away who - horrible people they are - may want to try on for size etc.

I get the ££££ bit but I think the whole area  is an accident or incident waiting to happen - the main entrance and walkway is blocked by people drinking, smoking, ticket/programme queue etc - bad location  - too much going on.

I totally agree with you Neo

I think it would be ideal

I avoid that area like the plague tbh

Im just pointing out it’s unlikely to happen , certainly in the current set up

Went in there earlier today - shop was empty. I actually thought it was closed on Sunday’s ?

bloke said they had installed new card scanners to apply the rewards to your account starting tomorrow. I presume this will apply in the stadium too

I looked at the que for almost 2 seconds then buggered off, stupid little club shop for the size of the new build.

Surely there must me someone there who could bump you to the head of the queue in view of you're past acheivements Sir Alan?

Thought the same walking in. Atrocious layout. Ticket queue, bar queue, matchday programmme all just outside the sports bar. Oh and then a queue out the door into the club shop and a bunch of bike racks. Put too much in a space far too small

Yep

Ive popped down the ground and still no decent sized marquee to cope with the short stampede

:dunno:

Good attempt but decent size wasn’t on your initial critique of the club, Bob.

Yesterday was the first home game and they utilised a stall behind the south stand selling replica shirts.

The whole layout around the ground is rubbish. Its a free for all to get to the turnstiles  by the amount of fans around the south stand. I've been to big grounds such as Old Trafford, Stamford bridge and Anfield and its never like that there. Got to much going on in such a small space.

Yeah but there is constraints around the ground due to housing. On the corner between the Dolman and the south stand you have a houses backing right up to the ground. Behind the Dolman there are flats and industry. Behind the Atyeo there are a row of houses facing the park.

Bristol sport would have to buy all these up to have a grand concourse around the ground.

Might happen one day.....don’t hold your breath

They are probably waiting for the new indoor arena/stadium to make further improvements. If they create a pedestrian entrance / avenue of winterstoke road, leading to the Lansdown stand with the new arena  one side and hotel the other it should make things a whole lot better and make the whole stadium look dammed impressive

Online means paying for delivery, not seeing the product in the flesh first, and taking a chance on notoriously inconsistent sizing. And those of us who don’t live near the ground aren’t going to make a special trip when we’d naturally be visiting on a matchday anyway.

Trying thinking it through before making smartarse comments.

The shop needs to be fit for purpose; 35 minute queues at peaks time suggests it isn’t.

No, not a marquee.

No, not a miniature marquee.

No, didn’t buy a vest.

Sorry Bobby you’re wrong on this one. Back to throwing snakes and dustbins around for you I’m afraid.

Avoiding the clubshop isn’t an option when you have kids who are excited at getting their new city kit printed on in the first game of the season , agree most adults would pop in their during the week , however it can not cope with demand on match days therefor it’s not fit for purpose and needs to be addressed , can’t image how an evacuation in the event of a fire would look like ,, 300 people doing a conga around the stalls whilst singing follow my leader leader leader follow .......

Have to agree the club shop experience on a match days is truly awful. Went into Brighton's club shop end of season before last, as a comparison of similar size stadium,  and it must be at least twice the size and of course dedicated to football merchandise only.

The AG cub shop with it's cramped and messy layout with hardly any signs to show where junior range is is really poor and then when you do find the right section they have invariably no stock or limited range. Really a big let down when you think Bristol Sport is all about making the extra buck from commercial prowess!

Wasn’t there a ‘stall’ next to the band stage selling club merchandise last season....ie, away from the club shop?

Just a tinpot experience all round. Embaressing really for a stadium holding 27k.

It’s too small an area and the club must know that but there isn’t anywhere else to locate it.

It’s actually smaller than the old club shop.

Ridiculous when you think of that.
