Bristol City fans look for help in legal fight against West Midlands police force

I've had issues with WMP & EMP and their conduct in the past but that day, like other visits to Brum, we arrived by train, drank with others in the pub we always use having good banter with fans from other clubs intent on good beer and talking football and then walked to the ground. We did walk past quite a few City clad F'wits performing their usual antics. Now I've no idea this fella was within or near the vicinity of those mobs but I've always found if you've an issue with the Old Bill and call them out when they're in the wrong they quickly back down.

Hi Stu,

Obviously this is a good cause and a stand needs to be made. But why didn’t you mention donations were needed when you put out your statement back in July (link below) saying you were “pressing ahead with the legal claim” and you expected a “case management hearing court date in September 2019”?  Six weeks or so of valuable fundraising seem to have been missed.

Anyhow, very best of luck with it ...

I was one of the Ten fans who are fighting for justice, the day started with me and a friend drinking in a bar in the centre of birmingham. The WMP had 3 riot vans parked outside most of the time we were there. The Bristol police came in a few times talking to us and asking what time would we be leaving. We asked how long would it  take to walk to the ground, they said about 20-25 mins so we left the pub at around 20 past 2 thinking we would get ascorted but the 3 riot vans had gone. We then heeded towards the ground, we were then meet by around 15-20 WMP and kept on a corner for approx 1 hour being told we were a threat to sociaity. We were then marched to the train station and headed back to Bristol. There was no need to stop or hold us we had done nothing wrong, I didnt even know any others in the group.

You want 'justice' because you did not heed the A&S Police advice, but continued drinking, and then wanted an escort to the ground when you decided to put your pints down. What are the Police supposed to do that are charged with control, interview you all or just turn you around? They are under instructions, no if's or butt's ...sorry but it seems you and your mates didn't take the sensible option and just get to the ground safely with the rest of the City support.

This is not about justice, you missed a football match, take some responsibility.

Any away ground visited you have to be mindful regarding safety to you and others, I used to travel to all away matches, and Birmingham and Villa was always going to be worthy of special care, the cops are there not to inconvenience you but also to protect you and yours, can you imagine the carnage if they were not?

Are you finding it difficult to read or do you have some sort of agenda? Or just like to try and be centre of attention?

The person who was actually part of it thought they would be getting escorted, but that isn't the issue is it (as they haven't demanded it). They then gave themselves plenty of time to walk to the ground (nothing wrong with that), they were then wrongfully stopped whilst walking to the ground causing no trouble whatsoever (allegedly, as I wasn't there). What bit of that do you not understand, or want to understand? Are people not allowed to have a drink before a game and walk to the ground when they want?

Wood eh? Is that what is between your ears.

Don't patronise me, of course you can have a 'drink' and walk wherever you want, but take some responsibility as to when and where is sensible to do so, clearly this wasn't and they missed a football match, and the talk is about Justice, get a grip. Perhaps we all have to learn the harsh lessons in life sometimes. all about growing up..Justice my a$$.

you did not heed the A&S Police advice’

Where has @shorts178 indicated that to be so or even that ther was any ‘advice’ from A&S officers

then wanted an escort to the ground when you decided to put your pints down.

Where has the poster said this ?

What are the Police supposed to do that are charged with control, interview

Interview ???? For WHAT ?

It could be you have the inability to read , but ..........much more likely your views , as in most subjects , spoken as a ex. pretend cop in the RAF with the protection of a dog

Have another rant about kids playing PS4 why don’t you

Nause

So you say it is ok to walk and drink but not to be late for a football match? I have also missed the bit about them having tins with them on the way.

It comes across that you are the one being patronising mate in all honesty.

Ah bless, a great well informed adult response.

Fans go to pub before football match, fans leave in plenty of time to go to football match, fans get stopped by Police and sent home after doing nothing wrong. The only people who need to take responsibility as you put it, is the WMP. They already have a terrible reputation as it is when it comes to Policing football fans - but still let's not let the facts get in the way eh.

Bottom line is they clearly had or have no power to detain fans and put them on a train

This is England still thankfully , Not North Korea

If the fans have committed offences then deal appropriately by arresting them and justifying so

They made up their own rules and law for the afternoon

Laws and legislation , including powers given to the police are in place for all to abide to , and that includes the Police themselves

My observations are limited as to what I can say as this is an ongoing matter.

however I can say that speculation as to what happened on the day like this does not help .This comment is incorrectly speculating on something that did not happen . The only people who know what happened are those who were there at the time, and it is those accounts only that should be listened to.

it is best to await any court case/ offcial release when the actual facts will be available for everyone to then read and digest further.

@1bristolcity you never did respond to this post

This post is a genuinely breathtaking pile of steaming horseshit.

Nothing you have written makes any sense, and you appear to have made up much of the narrative and the motivations of those involved while insisting you know more than someone who was there?

Angrily supporting the right of the WMP (spits) to arbitrarily be utter ***** to fellow City fans is a very strange hill to die on.

You see the response I got was very much that I just had to be an ex copper, because otherwise would I not buy into this ridiculous all aboard the wagon brigade who think that cops are just bent. I am not a copper or even a ex one, I was a military Policeman though, does that count in your biased agenda, that we all have to buy into this stupid idea that we have to be molly coddled and not stand on our own two feet and at least get to the ground early without being half pissed!!!  The narrative from one of the 10 was that the A&S police entered the pub and according to him enquired 'what time would they be leaving?, they imo left it too late in leaving and were caught out, any fan would or should have realised this was foolhardy.
