We are definitely going to have the most exciting set of backs in the prem when it starts up again.

Add that to the likes of Hughes, Sinckler, Thacker, Vui and Luatua in the pack we have a side to challenge for the very top honours.

I wonder how strong these “sanctions” will be then! At least SL got his wish of the salary cap/marquee players remaining as is.

Already been suggested that as an example, if you had 4 marquee signings to get around this on 2 or 4 year contracts

Player 1 -  Year 1 Marquee signing salary      - Year 2 Lower salary                           - Year 3 Marquee signing salary      - Year 4 Lower salary

Player 2 - Year 1 Lower salary                             - Year 2 Marquee signing salary      - Year 3 Lower salary                           - Year 4 Marquee signing salary

Player 3 -  Year 1 Marquee signing salary      - Year 2 Lower salary                            - Year 3 Marquee signing salary      - Year 4 Lower salary

Player 4 - Year 1 Lower salary                             - Year 2 Marquee signing salary      - Year 3 Lower salary                           - Year 4 Marquee signing salary

Well this is quite a surprise

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/52966669

Premiership clubs have unanimously agreed to cut the salary cap by £1.4m.

The senior ceiling will come down to £5m from the 2021/22 season, plus the existing £600,000 of academy credits, to help clubs with the losses incurred as a result of coronavirus.

The reduction will be in place until the end of the 2023/24 season. An announcement is expected on Tuesday.

It is hoped the cap could then return to the current level of £6.4m plus £600,000 academy credits.

Changes have also been agreed to the marquee player dispensation, which will remain as two players' salaries not counting towards the cap for the next two seasons before being cut to just one from the 2022/23 season onwards.

Tell you what. Pat Lam is not the cheap option there. He is a world class coach. Would be like us having Bielsa.

Seems more like it would be like us having a premier league manager in charge, think I read someone say he's the highest paid coach in the division. We simply cannot afford someone of the similar standing in football its beyond Hughton level.

We are delighted to confirm Omar Mouneimne as the club’s new defence coach with immediate effect.?

Another world class addition to the coaching team ?

Let's hope City don't now take the cheap option..!

It's obviously a lot easier to build a truly competitive rugby team at the highest level. Naturally by having use of Ashton Gate - and a close newly built training ground - you end up with pretty much world class facilities no-one else will offer. A quick google suggests the likes of Leicester & Saracens use existing rugby club grounds for their training bases.

Bristol have been clear that the recent signings have been sold on the whole package on offer.  Whilst some rugby teams may end up offering more salary, some might prefer the idea of living in the South West with the best facilities on offer - therefore we capture players easier.

Get those aspects right and all of a sudden, you need to go for the best coaching option to elevate the team to reap the rewards.

Unfortunately with City, we're not a big draw in the scope of the league so end up relying upon developing players rather than enticing with the other elements.

Looks a poor cost equivalent option from a non-Rugby fan point of view....£280/£380 season ticket???

If Football offer the same, I think it will be poorly received.

Mods - please move if necessary.

Options 1 & 2 reversed for Season ticket holders and match ticket holders
