All things Bristol Bears

Brilliant.

As tense watching that as City on Saturday. Being sucked in good and proper to this Bristol Sport ideal.

With Exeter just down the road and a good sporting day out, had split loyalties Bristol being my Dad’s and my home town team, playing at The Gate, and part of the Bristol Sport conglomerate.

However, watching them grow from being total lightweights to being ‘in the mix’ and then, now, just the way they play rugby, my allegiance has swung fully behind the Bristol lads. Superb flowing, adventurous and expansive stuff.

C’mon Bris!

Let’s hope their model is one our football club follows.

How utterly satisfying to pip B**h at the post. All eyes on the outcome of Sale’s COVID tests on Tuesday. Whoever we play in the semis, our boys can just go out and play their Rugby, and hopefully get to the final. C’mon Bris!

I don't get the Bath hate JP, it's not like the gas mate. Good to put them in their place tho! ;)

Personally, I hope they get through now we're safe.

Not hatred mate, but for the vast majority of my lifetime we’ve been stuck in their shadow, hopefully yesterday’s results is the dawn of a new era where we’re the dominant force in West Country Rugby.

At full strength, they'll take some stopping to be fair. Their European final might hinder them but they're a fine side, as are we.

To be fair although I'd like to see the Bears as champions, Exeter have led for most of the season (and now Saracens can't win) they deserve to win the championship.

How many of the teams can enter the European championships from each league?

As of next season it will be 8 from the premiership, 8 from the top 14 (French league) and 8 from the pro 14 (welsh, Scottish and Irish league).

The remaining teams go into the challenge cup (basically rugby’s Europa league)

I haven't seen it written anywhere.

But are there time slots when the semi finals will be played this weekend?

I've seen Bristol advertise about playing Saturday, is there any indication of what time that might be?

I haven't seen if both semi finals are Saturday, or if one is Saturday and one Sunday etc?

Both on Saturday. 1:30 if it's Wasps, 4:30 if it's Exeter.

Sale's match with Worcester Warriors has been called off after Premiership Rugby reported six more Sharks players have tested positive for Covid-19.

The game was originally due to take place on Sunday, but it was rearranged for Wednesday after 19 cases of coronavirus in the Sharks camp.

It means Worcester are awarded a 20-0 win and Sale miss out on the play-offs.

Bath will now travel to leaders Exeter in the semi-finals on Saturday, while Bristol go to Wasps.

Two members of Sale rugby staff have also returned positive results from the latest round of testing, bringing the number of infections at the club to 27 in the past seven days.

Worcester welcomed the decision to cancel the fixture, calling it "the right outcome for the safety of all players, staff and officials involved".

The club also extended it sympathies to Sale that a match with such significance for their play-off hopes had to be forfeited.

While Sale admitted the cancellation is "devastating", denying them the chance to win the Premiership title, it wholly understands "the welfare of players, staff and officials is the most important factor".

The Sharks are the subject of a Rugby Football Union investigation into their Covid management after the initial 19 positive results were confirmed on Saturday.

The club once again denied reports players and staff had broken any guidelines and protocols given to them by the RFU and Premiership Rugby.

It also labelled claims players had gone out partying and socialising in Manchester following their Premiership Rugby Cup victory over Harlequins on 21 September as "completely inaccurate and untrue".

Something doesn't quite ring true about so many positive cases, incl staff....

Agree, something very odd about these numbers.....

Didn't help that the Director of Rugby for the Premiership?  had connections with Sale as an ex player and with Steve Diamond as an ex club mate. Possibly this decision could have been taken earlier.
