9 is excellent, few years ago we would wet ourselves if 1 of our players were called up, another indication of how far we have come (I appreciate part of the reason is having more overseas players but still).

Though without not wanting to seem to recognise this great achievement look at the details a bit closer:

Lloyd Kelly has been named in the England U20 squad.

Jay Dasilva has been named in the England U20 ... He is a Chelsea player.

Joe Morrell has been called up to the Welsh U21's.

Rory Holden has been named in Northern Ireland's U21 squad.

Goalkeeper Alhaji Sesay has made the Sierra Leone shortlist for their clash with Ethiopia.

Joe Low will join a training camp with Wales U18 squad.

Jamie Taylor will join a training camp with Wales U18 squad.

Bailey Wright will join Australia's training camp in Turkey,

Callum O'Dowda is in the Republic of Ireland squad.

Does the current Austrian team have a wealth of forward players, keeping Wiemann from getting a call up? A little surprising..

Good point..... Diedhiou and Kalas are both  full internationals too... so that could well be selected during this season.

Both him and Mäenpää haven’t been selected for their countries, which selfishly is a good thing....let them have a nice rest.

It is a travesty Kelly is not with the u21s. I would rate Kelly over quite a few of the defenders called up but Kelly plays for Bristol City not on loan from Chelsea.

Here’s the England u21 defence:

Defenders: Ben Chilwell (Leicester City), Jake Clarke-Salter (Vitesse Arnhem, on loan from Chelsea), Dael Fry (Middlesbrough), Jonjoe Kenny (Everton), Ezri Konsa (Brentford), Fikayo Tomori (Derby County, on loan from Chelsea), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (Crystal Palace), Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur)

Chilwell is a LB, who else is?  Kenny and Wan-Bissaka (thought he was Spanish) are RBs.

Jumping the gun a bit with Kelly I think.

Yes he's been good for us, and I'm very confident he has a magnificent future ahead of him.

However, he's made what, 19 senior appearances for us? It's really not that surprising he's being given time to develop at club level first.

Look at the alternatives: Chilwell - 30+ appearances in the premier league and basically a fixture in Leicester's side now. Jonjoe Kenny - Played 14 times in the premier league for Everton and 50 senior appearances in total so far in his career. Tomori (who also plays left back) - close to 50 senior appearances and into his third season of Championship football. Wan-Bissaka - A high profile start to the season in the premier league, he's actually made less senior appearances than Lloyd, so this might be an anomalous example, but considering his performance toward the end of last season and early this (even before the red he was doing well against Liverpool) on the biggest stage.

Kelly is also 19 years of age, Chilwell and Kenny are 21, Tomori and Wan are 20, so he's a bit younger, and is probably more likely to stand out at younger international age groups.

Lloyd Kelly's time will come, I don't doubt it, but I personally am not surprised he's not in the U21 side just yet. We are obviously a little biased as fans of Bristol City.

Was thinking more Konsa, Tomori and Clarke-Salter. Not been overly impressed by any of them and all played champ. Konsa looks bright but been at L1 level before these first few games this season
