Lots of them post about reading. Pack and Smith have both sooner so recently. I never understand why they just read self help stuff and books about how to be successful.

Never seen to be reading some standard fiction.

Joe does recommend Paolo Coelho though. A tad more literary.

Time was he would have been ridiculed for reading books, as Le Saux was.

Another sign of how the game has changed perhaps.

But le saux is a dick about it. Comes accross with an arrogance like he somehow thinks he's better than his peers.

It seems joe bryan's intelligence is inferred on here because he went to private school and his dads a surgeon rather than him announcing that he's some intellect.

Pat Nevin too. He also had the piss ripped out of him for his musical taste - the JAMC, Smiths and stuff like that rather than the normal footballer MOTR Lionel Ritchie and Phil Collins stuff at the time.

Did anyone rip the piss out of Stuart Pearce for listening to The Stranglers and stuff like that?

Don't get the Le Saux arrogance thing, but for somebody who does have a brain he's a poor pundit.

You'd be surprised, it can help shape perspective and alter mental processes which were previously negative for you. The Chimp Paradox has seemingly been used by every professional sports team in one way or another, very publicly too.

You shouldn't underestimate the power of thinking in different ways. I'm not advocating it of course but Steve Jobs famously put down his success at creating Apple to once taking LSD, which he said changed his life. Some of the greatest intellects of all time have dabbled with drugs - it's obviously not a good thing in the vast, vast majority of cases but for some, it can shape your mental perspective and schemas into a far more successful direction, just by unlocking a feeling/viewpoint, etc that you never knew you had.

In a nutshell, we know eff all really about psychology. But the power of using it correctly is absolutely immense.

JB is indeed a clever guy and a well educated one at that. He comes from a good family.

His father is an exceptionally bright man and ensured all his children received a top drawer education as he did.

JB is about as far away from the stereotype pro footballer as you can get.

Didn’t he go to Backwell School? Backwell is a state-funded comprehensive.
