bristolcitysweden
Any favourites? Not all guys enjoy drinking real ale most of the time in Bristol so would be great to have a few meeting points for eating. Not that all of us will be there in time but anyway We don't appreciate anything posh. Cheers Tommy
Shtanley
Dangun and Tuktuck are two nice asian places.
Slacker
Don't know if it would be the kind of thing you like Tommy, but Za Za Bazaar on the harbourside is the biggest restaurant in the UK. It is one of those all you can eat buffet places where it isn't the greatest food but there is certainly something for everyone. Hope you and your friends have a great trip to Bristol. Globe Trotter
The Clove for Indian is normally good on Luckwell Road or Thai Garden on west street is fab and you can bring your own booze
New Dazzler
The Kathmandu in Colston St is a great Nepalese which would appeal to anyone who likes a "traditional" Indian but has extra Nepalese choices. A big restaurant so you probably won't have to book (but may be worth phoning first anyway if there is a big group of you). Looking on Trip Advisor it looks like it will be closing in October which is a great shame, but I would think that it has been affected by the current 2 year closure for redevelopment of the Colston Hall right opposite, which must have been a great source of revenue for them. If you look on their website there are loads of photos of celebs who have obviously dined there before or after performing at the hall. The irony is that we have a fraud of a Mayor in Bristol who doesn't believe that concert venues do not attract sufficient consumer business within the radius of that venue to build a big arena in central Bristol where there are loads of bars, restaurants and hotels! New Dazzler
Just an update on the Kathmandu Tommy, found on their website that 15th Sept is their final day of opening, so would definitely be worth phoning first if interested. (I am assuming that you are coming to the Sheffield United game on 15th...) Looks like the owner is retiring. If you did book in there, it would probably be a brilliant night! Robbored
One of the closest Indian to AG is in Hotwells Rd - the Raj Bari. No more that 10min walk. Been there many times over many years. Nice atmosphere and good food. Seen many different City players in there as well on a Saturday evening. One Team In Keynsham
I do like The Clove (given it is walkable from where I stay when back in Bristol), but also would recommend Urban Tandoor on Small Street.
Guest
Ganesha opposite Asda is quite nice - more traditional Indian food - southern Indian slant
Mr Popodopolous
Got quite a few recommendations on this. Italian- Vincenzo's on Park Street is decent. It's been there years, so stood the test of time, family business. PanAsian (also includes Italian and some others)- Cosmo's around the Triangle. Has an all you can eat buffet and in the unlikely event you want to sample a slice of pizza and some Indian type food on same evening for example, it's a unique choice! Could well be shut currently though. Indian- Al's Tikka Grill next to Ashton Gate is convenient, if a bit small. In the centre, there are a lot of good choices- I would recommend down Denmark Street which is a bit of a side-street, a place called Bombay Boulevard- great range of curries and Indian food generally, definitely good if you're adventurous and want to branch out. If you want something particularly hot, you could order a Naga based dish at Ahmed's Masala Cafe- which is Jacob's Wells Road. Generally speaking, it's another place with a good range. Bobby200
Bit out of the way but the pipal tree is one of the best places I’ve ever been. Mix between punjabi and English food and has quite a nice selection.
