Leveller
We’ve just reached the point where form started to dip last season. On Boxing Day 2017 (2017-18 season) we peaked at 2nd with 43 points from 22 games. On Boxing Day 2018 (2018-19 season) we were 12th with 32 points from 24 games. On 16 Jan 2018 we were 5th with 47 points from 27 games. On 16 Jan 2019 we are 7th with 41 points from 27 games. Lets hope the lines on that graph start to cross over in the next few weeks. pl00peh91
We all know what happened last year - we played brilliant football until January but our squad was too fragile, our January signings were duds and the wheels came off. The old cliche of “it’s a marathon not a sprint” applied heavily and whilst we all remember fondly the football from the first half of last season, it’s interesting to see how we are only four points off of where we were this time last year, which is impressive given that we were 2nd at Xmas in 2017. We finished that season in 11th with 67 points which amounts to an additional 23 points from the last 18 games, a return of 1.28 per game. We have a current points return of 1.57 so if we kept up our form for the rest of the season (which I am optimistic more likely with our current depth of squad with the right additions) we would finish on 72 points, a healthy increase on last year’s total. That isn’t to say that the wheels can’t and won’t fall off again this year, however our defence is the 2nd best in the league and we are building momentum and confidence so fingers crossed it’s a solid platform on which to build the rest of the campaign. In other words, likely another season of tangible progress - come on you reds!

Leveller
This time last season (after 30 games) we were 6th with 51 points. Right now we are 6th with 50 points. Hopefully the lines on those graphs are just about to intersect as we outdo the form from the last third of last season. Fingers crossed!

Our 31st was the 3-3 v Sunderland, so finished 31 games on 52 points. Win mid week and we move ahead.

Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
I think it’s worth mentioning that as of tonight we now have more points this season than we did at the same stage last season. Come on you Reds!
Leveller
This time last season (when we had played 40 matches) we were on 62 points in 7th place. Currently we’re in 5th on 65. It will probably surprise many of us to realise how late last year we dropped away from the play offs. Better not count any chickens yet!

Very true, but last year at this stage we were in no sort of form and had dropped from 2nd. This season we are where we are having just taken 10 points from 4 matches. More hopeful this time round, but six matches feels like an awfully long way to go still.
JamesBCFC
A win on Saturday would see us surpass last seasons points total, with 5 more games to play.

Yes, because last season we reached 67, only picking up 5 points in our last 6 games.
