Nah it wouldn't, 500 at £10 a ticket is less than most clubs would take in this league.

Most clubs in this league don't have to travel 200 miles to get to Wigan. Most clubs also won't play them on a Friday night.

There's so much more to it than the price of the ticket.

It’s certainly less than the likes Villa, Birmingham, Leeds, Wednesday, Derby etc would take in the same circumstances but then they’re all bigger clubs than us and located closer to Wigan. We don’t pretend our away support is on par with those clubs.

The game is televised on Sky, travel options are limited to the roads if you come back on the same night and we’ve got West Brom away a few days earlier. For some of us who work that will probably mean arranging time off twice in one week. I think we’ll do well to get 500 there.

Exactly... Do people really think that Preston, Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton would take thousand of fans to each other if they weren't half an hour down the road and they had to take time off work to travel 200 plus miles with no trains home available? Wigan is £15 in black cab to Boltons ground! You couldn't get a black cab from Ashton gate to the mem for that price!

I'm not saying we have the same levels of support as the big clubs in the division such as Leeds, Villa, boro, the Sheffields, etc. we are nowhere near some of them. But compared to most in the division we do alright when the distance and cost is taken into account.

Not done Wigan before- does anyone know what parking provisions are like?

Also, do stewards make people rigidly sit in their seat their ticket number is on or is it more flexible? Understand the away end is reasonable size and we won't sell out- fully understandably for all the reasons stated.

Nope, tickets are unreserved so stand wherever you like.

That's great news- thanks.

More clubs should take that approach- unreserved seating in away ends unreserved seems like common sense to me tbh.

Clubs don’t because that means you cant sell 10% of the seating, as is the case in the unreserved corner of the Gate. For Wigan the away end holds what 5k and we won’t get anywhere near to selling out so it makes sense. Pretty sure Wigan aren’t allowed to sell the whole stand anyway even if they wanted due to a design fault where the concourses are too small.

Ah yeah, the 10% rule...

Sounds like a rule that should be applied case by case- in short maybe 90% of the capacity or less can be unreserved, or maybe to play it safe, 80% of any given away end. Shouldn't be a problem a week on Friday though, sure the back will be accessible enough- can't see a huge away contingent!
