We could all use a bit of diversion so how about some football quotes .

I love this one .

"Tell him he’s Pele and get him back on.” Partick Thistle manager John Lambie, when told his concussed striker did not know who he was

John Lambie - a huge hero of mine and a Thistle legend...lots of people have tried to take credit for that Pele quote but it was definitely John who said it .... RIP Boss...

Sir Bobby Robson

“What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up the stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him, and without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.”

Is there a Football fan in England who didn’t love Sir Bobby?

"The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It's nothing of the kind.

The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.'

Danny Blanchflower, Tottenhams Double Winning captain

Probably some brain dead, self obsessed Mackem somewhere mate. Sir Bobby is the epitome of a gentleman to me and I totally agree that it would be very hard to dislike him.

Shanks:  I’d say they are about the same.

Reporter:  Really?  In the past you have always said Finney was the greatest there would ever be, now you’re saying Keegan is just as good?

Shanks: We’ll, Tom is 65
