If England can win with youth, why can't we?

England just beat Spain, with a team whose average age was 23.

They did this against a backdrop of average recent performances and in a country renowned as a fortress, where Spain had not lost at home in 15 years.

So why can't we do this too?

Apparently, we have a youth academy, which produces brilliant and gifted young players. And yet, most of them are on loan to League 1 & 2 clubs.

Well England have the full choice of the best young players in the country. Those players are from, pretty much the academy’s of 10 or so top clubs. We sometimes don’t even have first choice on the best young players in our local area, plenty have been snapped up by larger clubs.

Because our youth players aren't good enough yet, maybe?

And the ones playing for England are, and are at a standard where they are deemed to be the best player for that position in the country.

Also, have you noticed that these young England players don't all represent the same club side...

Maybe, just maybe the club sides these young guns are signed to offer better opportunities for developing skills confidence and raw abilities than the average Championship side can...

Working and training day in day out in and around established and experienced Premiership players at a young age must rub off and be a great fast track learning curve... Not to mention the Management and top quality coaching that Premiership clubs can provide.... the resource's available are inevitably first class too..

It all adds uo to faster development for the youngsters who are good enough that are lucky enough to find themselves  in an elite environment.  It's the same in most walks if life, and the occasional exception that proves the rule inevitably pops up from humbler beginnings every now and again.

Learning to drive with yer dad is one thing and fine, learn with a top driving school in specially adapted cars is another, train as a  police interceptor driver with advanced is something else, it all depends on a competent raw product and then the quality of trainer and equipment available...   Not forgetting the fact that the cream usually rises to the top, but usually needs a little the right conditions to speed the process along.
