Pro Football contract for Bolt...

Yup.

McCormack and Tommy Oar as well as Bolt.

Oar was set to be anything, but had a terrible spell in Holland (?) I think, followed by a short spell at Ipswich Town.

Oar is definately worth a look.

As for Bolt - when he scored twice they were playing a cobbled together pub team.

I saw the game - he is absolutely shite and wouldn't make it in any pro league.

Shameless publicity stunt which 10,000 people fell for and bought season tickets.

Usain Bolt will never, ever be a football player - he really is a Downs League reserve level player.

At Best.

But Oar is still young (26), and one we should absolutely be looking at. The problem with Oar,is that the 'big money'  ($1.8m) move came too early for him - he was only 19 and got very 'billy big bollox'.

Sort that out, and there is a very tidy player inside. 20 caps for Australia, so no work permit issues.

Agreed very little in the skill department & I fear Bolt is only there to get bums on seats, which he certainly is doing.

Change "very little in the skill" to nil in the skill department but Tommy Oar definately has plenty to offer.

Haven't really seen him play, but what would you say is his greatest asset ? Is he fast ?

He's quick, but he's no Ivan Sproule!

I think this article just about sums up future in Oz for Bolt.

https://www.naracoorteherald.com.au/story/5716647/bolt-may-dash-from-a-leagues-mariners/?cs=11148

It's very clearly a publicity stunt to try this make money and actually makes the club into a laughing stock.

It's like that time in the 90s when Stanley Matthews was reported as going to play for some west country non league team in a FA cup qualifying game.

Farcical.

Bolt may dash from A-League's Mariners

Usain Bolt's A-League bid could end as soon as this week after the Central Coast Mariners excluded the Olympic great from team training until a contract offer impasse is resolved.

The Mariners appear keen to bring a decision on Bolt's future to a head after his management reportedly pressed for a contract in the wake of his two goals in a recent trial match.

In a statement on Tuesday, the club finally confirmed they had tabled an offer to the Jamaican sprint superstar, although it's reportedly for a meagre $150,000 with the majority from Football Federation Australia's marketing fund.

That's a far cry from the $3 million written about when he began his indefinite trial with the Mariners in mid-August, when the club indicated a decision on a contract for Bolt was more likely in January.

The club admitted in Tuesday's statement they were unlikely to reach an agreement unless a lucrative third-party deal can be found.

There have been many down the years, clubs signing Paul Gascoigne, Sol Campbell and others and making out it was for football reasons when all of us knew it was just a publicity stunt. Even our friends from over the bridge signing Robbie Fowler.
