New Dazzler
Nicky Wonder, guitarist with genius Brian Wilson's Band for the last 20 or so years, and formerly of The Wondermints, died in his sleep aged 59. As a Brian Wilson/Beach Boys "super fan boy" I have seen Nicky on many occasions with Brian's band, including at least 5 gigs at the Colston Hall and various others around the country notably the London venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Festival Hall, Palladium and Hammersmith Apollo. Although he was relatively low profile (other than his trademark hat) he was part of a band that perfectly performed the Beach Boys/Brian's music, no mean feat considering the complexities of some of the deeper cuts of the BB catalogue, such as countless shows playing the entire Pet Sounds Album and the eventual remaking of the long lost (for 37years) "Smile" album, as well as personal support of a rather fragile Brian on stage. As many will know Brian has suffered mental health issues since the mid 60s, exacerbated by excessive drug abuse and wacky lifestyle situations ie spending many years "living" in bed in the 70s. Plus Brian recently had a back operation which triggered off some mental health issues (which now seem to be under medicated control) so he had to cancel some gigs in the USA, but miraculously at the age of 76 is still touring. Anyway, thanks for the "good vibes" Nicky and rest in peace. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/nicky-wonder-brian-wilson-wondermints-guitarist-dead-at-59-obituary-868888/

I often think he (and Dennis Hopper) in Easy Rider had a huge influence on the young Jack Nicholson too, gave him that air of menace that he took into virtually all his subsequent roles. Used to play bowls at Somerton Bowls Club with my mum, before moving to Devon aged 98. Sprightly isn't the word.
