Weird how he doesn’t actually start until Feb 1st though

Spit balling here with no knowledge but these compromise agreements when leaving a job get more and more detailed and silly demands.

Maybe part of Villa pay-off was not allowed to work in championship until after Jan window as he would know players contracts and could go poaching at villa using that knowledge?

If you’d have been round any shops recently you’d have seen there has been a significant amount of Christmas chocolate, cheese, party food and turkeys being sold at heavy discounts.

Its also a fact that Bruce has a big redundancy pay off from Villa to spend

Its not hard to put two and two together from that and work out what he’s doing for the next month.

We've known it was going to be him for a while but pleased it's been confirmed. His record is good at this level so can't complain.

It's strange he isn't starting till February though, especially as the transfer window has just opened. Conspiracy theories going round that it's to do with avoiding paying Villa compensation.

Nothing seems to be straight forward at Wednesday at the moment.

8 points over Christmas was a big improvement though and was unfortunate not to be 12.

Probably due to remaining contract conditions at Villa?

The reason for the February start doing the rounds in Sheffield is that Bruce lost both his parents during the course of last year and when he got sacked from Villa he took the opportunity to arrange a proper family Christmas and new year that he'd obviously not had for a long time and those commitments don't end until February.

Stephen Clemence and Steve Agnew have been appointed as his assistants and start immediately with Bullen retained in some other coaching capacity

The interesting thing for us is why he would come to a club who are in the knife edge of FFP (just 1 full signing last Jan and 2 loan players this summer - plus Hunt outgoing). The feeling (hope!) is that some workaround of FFP has been found and Bruce has been given assurances of that before committing.

The next month will tell us a lot more

New rumour today - He's not starting until February because he's going to watch the cricket in the West Indies. ?

I believe that is the case. A bit of R&R following the death of both his parents within a short space of time last year.

Perhaps you may have one or two major outgoings which will bring in some cash? Bannan and Reach spring to mind - sell those two and you should bring in £20m easy.

Only thing I can think is he's not allowed to make any transfer dealings by Sheffield Wednesday's choice and so doesn't want the fans on his back when they don't sign anyone?

I'm not sure we'd get £20m for them to be honest but even if we did the figures doing the rounds are that we need that much just to stave off any FFP sanctions at the end of the season

Unfortunately the Chairman is very naive in transfer matters and we've missed so many opportunities to cash in and re invest...Forestieri was being touted at £15m 18 months ago, we'd be lucky to get £3m now....Westwood's contract ends in the summer and looks like leaving for nothing.....there's many such examples which is why we are in the state we are

No way 20 million, is Bannon approaching 30 ?
