You know he’s not real, yeah? He’s just a Russian forum-bot that trawls cyberspace for a few key words. When he’s not in the pub.

‘EVOLUTION not revolution’ are the words billionaire Steve Lansdown prefers to use as he looks ahead to new, exciting times as owner of La Grande Mare Hotel.

In 10 years time you may visit this hotel and after encountering the Head waiter , a naggingly familiar Scottish chap Derek, and unhappy with the lack of help by the Miserable old Head Barman , a Mr  O Driscoll you wish to complain and are introduced to the General manager a intellectual small chap , a .....Mr  Coppell

Well that’s next seasons pre season venue sorted. Very nice, I’ve been to Jersey many years ago ( delayed Honeymoon) but didn’t go to Guernsey.

Stayed at this place a few times on business trips. Mr Landsdown is going to need invest quite heavily. The good news for him is there isn't a lot of competition.

It’s a ploy to stop all our deals for one being scuppered by sightings at The Avon Gorge, worry not SL has this covered. :laughcont:

SL was so in awe of the Al Quadi hotel portfolio, that he just had to act and own an Hotel group of at least equal standing. Add this to the two planned in the new development at AG and he's well on the way to equaling or surpassing their hotel group.

Take that you franchisers.

All he needs now, is a tin pot third/fourth rate football outfit, that play in a beat up encampment of a rugby ground, as his share ownership in HL surpasses their share capital in the AIBJ.

It's a reference to his favourite brand of football boots, only available from Eastville Market.

The Great Sea would, in fact, be translated as La Grande Mer, not to be confused with La Grand-mere (Grandmother). A Mare is actually a pond, so a strict translation for Mr. Lansdown's new hotel would be The Big Pond

Which I believe is actually a bastardisation of Weston sur Mare

In fact, see above, it would be Weston-sur-Mer if translated (bastardised) from French. Weston-super-Mare actaually gets its name from the Latin - above (super) sea (mare).
