Swansea have sold their full allocation of 2,500 tickets

Never to the dark side

shame tbh, think a good away following always adds to the atmosphere at AG and lifts the home supporters. Made my first trip to the gate this season on sat and bloody hell, could hear a pin drop for vast stretches of the match :(

granted, that's been an ongoing issue for some time, but cutting away numbers is not the way to encourage a livelier atmosphere, and frankly, i don't care if the argument is that they gave us a small allocation themselves. Two wrongs don't make a right!

Exactly this. What are people scared of..?!

Sell them as many as we can for the Atyeo stand and bring it on..!

Agree fully. However the new rule appears to be around 10% of allocation/2,500 or in that general ballpark and tbh it is a sign of the times as it is more prevalent in the modern game now.

Flipside is that if their fans are in the upper part of the Atyeo or the bulk of it, they're further away from the pitch and less influence. However taking club loyalty out of it, big away followings good for the game IMO.

Big away following is good for the away side. All stood, all singing. Stand up in the home sections you will be told to sit down.

Also bigger away following = bigger police presence in the ground and the general vicinity and I believe the club pays for that.

Been part of a few decent away followings, including Millwall back in April last year and much to my surprise, quite a few around me were sat. Was quite annoying as me and mates were quite inclined to stand and when you stand at football game like that you're more likely to sing- fairly high up in the block too so that surprised me.

Ironically, I remember Palace away about 8 years ago though a relatively small away following in Jan 2011- Holmesdale End or whatever they call themselves- Fanatics I think- were stood but Palace stewards made us away fans sit. Never seen that anywhere else!

In general, it helps if an area where persistent standing is tolerated- think the singing section at AG- is right near the away fans. Atmosphere, back and forth helps spread then. Away fans allowed to stand in the main due to way its evolved over the years, getting them to sit won't be likely and unlikely to help safety. Then we had East End reopened with allowances for standing pre redevelopment and if it could be possible, though you want a singing/persistently standing area behind the goal, lower Dolman maybe- right in line with away fans there and putting more vocal away fans there could enhance things.

@Super Reckon the club see it as easier to control, especially if fans are in the upper half or the upper half and a little bit of the lower, easier to prevent pitch invaders etc.

Yes more revenue often means higher cost of doing business. 2500 will make a cracking atmosphere. Another big game SL is loving it!

Reading the usual drivel on the Swansea forum about 100's getting tickets for the home ends or travelling without tickets.

Good luck with that taking into account the clubs ticketing process and the "warm" welcome given to like-minded Leeds fans

Isn't it.

A few probably could get in fairly unnoticed if they keep a low profile but overall yeah we've heard it all before.

Villa & Brum also came out with that nonsense

Hi Swansea fans reading here having been linked to the thread ?

Big numbers of fans in home ends? Well we have a pretty good system so I can't see it myself.

Was it two seasons ago where Newcastle, Villa and Brum fans got escorted out of hospitality between South stand and Lansdown. I genuinely feared for them after the amount of people running down steps to get to them. Saw bottles and all sorts chucked at them.

So Swansea fans if you do go in home ends don't cheer ffs !?

Bottles? Really? I didn’t see that, but not sure how many people take a bottle into the stadium these days....

Exactly what we were saying around us. Also some of the projectiles were hitting more city fans than them.

Come to think of it a poster on here apologised for his behaviour on one of the occasions

How does this hospitality thing work then? Away fans in home areas for hospitality fairly de rigueur these days isn't it- but yes it was 2 seasons ago, definitely.

Dunno where else you would put them really. Guess no colours or signs of being away fans, certainly in view of home fans, part of the quid pro quo? Dunno though, never done hospitality or similar.
