Think Midlothian is a place or region. But St Mirren or Albion Rovers ain't. Assuming we are allowing Scottish football into this question.

thought it was a book title. by sir Walter Scot, had know idea it was a real place.

Didn't realise that

Many don't, its an area with several hundred properties between Nailsworth and Nympsfield. I love reminding Swindle fans they're in the same league as a "village team"...?

Arsenal

On that basis you could have Millwall too.

Technically both were places (Royal Woolwich Arsenal, Millwall Docks) but neither plays in the same location anymore (both have switched sides of the river) and their names are shortened.

Loads in scotland not named after their location.

For a start Rangers and Celtic.

I may be wrong but if you don't included the likes of arsenal (whos original name included location) or Palace (the area became known as crystal Palace due to the exhibition) Port value is the only team not named after a location.

Port Vale is the only one. Arsenal is a shortening of ‘Woolwich Arsenal’. Queen’s Park and Crystal Palace are both places in London.

I’m aware of that

Their Club name is and has been for many years,  Arsenal

Arsenal is not a place / area

?

The origins are a team of munition workers from Woolwich
