Mr Popodopolous
Horrible news- let us hope that somehow everyone on board is found alive.
Hartleysbeard
Awful news. A young man about to embark on a new chapter in his life. It’s an absolute tragedy for his family, friends and colleagues. Nice to see the respect shown here and that we can all rise above the tribalism of the game we love. A shame the same can’t be said of a minority on social media. I urge anyone who reads something offensive to please report it.

Bris Red
I know air travel is one of the safest forms of travel but there is something about small prop planes that never fills me with much confidence. Hope they are found safe
PHILINFRANCE
A poignant picture (if the news and our worst fears turn out to be true), entitled 'The last Goodbye'. La ultima ciao @FCNantes

myol'man
Hope for the best, but fear for the worst. Football rivalry totally irrelevant on this story. Two people, obviously including the pilot, could have perished.
RoystonFoote'snephew
Absolutely dreadful news. I pray that Sala and the pilot are found safe and well.
Popular Post Latcher
Cardiff fan here. I often peruse this forum without having felt the need to post before. reddogkev
Oh God, this is truly terrible. Football has no meaning in times like this. Heart bleeds for Cardiff and the people on that plane. Hope they are on the channel, waited to be found.
LondonBristolian
This is horrific. As others have said, extremely sad whoever was on board. I hope against hope there is miraculous good news.
Gazred
Sightings of red flares were reported during a lifeboat and helicopter search, but "nothing of significance was found", a Channel Islands Air Search spokeswoman said. Wonder if there is a slim chance they survived the initial crash. No idea if a plane like that would be kitted with a life raft, perhaps life jackets? Fingers crossed for them both. I dont think life jackets would do much good. Water would be far to cold to survive in it for long. Really sad.

EstoniaTallinnRed
An absolutely terrible tragedy for his family and Cardiff AFC, thoughts are with the family and hope against hope that both the player and the pilot are found alive. Alessandro
This is awful. If flares were seen, pray for a miracle and that they have a life raft - unfortunately in current sea temperatures in the channel hypothermia would set in in well under an hour. Tragic news and thoughts are with all involved.

RedM
Just about the only hope in this is that the Channel is said to be the busiest shipping lanes in the world. Plenty of people will be looking. I can’t imagine what the wait for news must be like for friends and family of all concerned.

Super
Get French Football News @GFFN Sources have informed Ouest-France that the plane now missing that had Emiliano Sala on board had difficulties in taking off from Nantes airport & had to attempt the procedure 3 or 4 times before successfully ending up in the air http://bit.ly/SalaMissing
BetterRedthanBlue
Such a tragedy. Thought and prayers go out to everyone on this day. ZiderEyed
This story really has hit me very hard. Its heartbreaking and you have to wonder how his team mates at Nantes must feel if he has died, being the last few people he spent time with, and saying their goodbyes as he embarks upon a whole new journey. Awful.
