Unexpected bonus that we are at least in the mix for a play-off spot though.
maxjak
IMHO Norwich are best team iv'e seen this season, and i hope they win the league [If we don't Ha!]...and unlike the Gruniard I believe they will definitely finish 1st or 2nd. Another one! On the Guardian-inspired Bobby Reid thread, we had @BTRFTG refer to the Gruniad and now you refer to the Gruniard. Are these typos, Freudian slips or what? The Grauniad would, undoubtedly, have a field day with this.

At this round of matches last season Wolves were way out top. The rest of the top six was closely contested with Cardiff just outside the automatic places in 3rd and Fulham in 5th, so not that surprising who went up. Oh, and then there was us in 6th..... Private Eye? It's been a standing joke forever that the Guardian has/was/is notorious for Typos! Not just P.I. but allcomers have called it The Gruiniard....The Gruniard etc as a friendly jest for years.

As I wrote in the Poor old Bob thread (Post #37) several hours prior to the post you quoted, 'Certainly not my newspaper of choice, although I read it frequently as it is available on-line free of charge. The sport articles tend to be extremely good, often improved by the comments - I prefer the crossword in The Telegraph. I am intrigued by your use of The Gruaniad: as I am sure you are aware, Private Eye coined the nickname The Grauniad due to its numerous misprints and typos, and I just wondered whether Gruaniad was your own term or, ironically, a typo.' 3 hours ago, The Dolman Pragmatist said: Sorry mate, but for more than 40 years Private Eye have always had it as the Grauniad, no variations... Hampshire Red
What a rag of a broadsheet - falling readership figures of just 1.4% of UK national readership and only 'wealthy socialist' fans of Jeremy (the Marxist) dare read it. Its free online to keep its name in the public eye (ha ha) otherwise it would go under. No decent sport journalism left in the Guardian - apparently. Times is good for cricket and football and the Mirror for racing. Can scap the rest and sell OTiB nationally.
SoliCyder
A few points: 1 - I am a Guardian reader (I believe this is a Wurzels song?!) 2 - It is not a broadsheet any longer. In fact, it had been in Berliner format for a good decade before the recent switch to full tabloid. The Berliner style was excellent, the tabloid is not. 3 - Somewhat due to point 2, I barely every actually buy the paper but make extensive use of the app. This is true of a very large contingent, hence it's influence and importance is beyond the 1.4% of daily purchases and Corbynist mandarins aforementioned in the thread. 4 - The sports coverage has improved massively over the past few years. As an example it was the only UK-based major sports outlet to live blog the recent World Chess Championship. 5 - With how the Championship has been this year, I would be very surprised if the Top 6 remained the Top 6.
