Makes a mockery of the fact the police have a riot squad stood infront of Section 82 corner whenever there’s a big game.

If they station themselves infront of the away end the incident with fighting Inside the ground doesn’t happen.

Always baffled me that, and always made me feel like I was a criminal for standing up and watching a football match, being eyeballed for 90 minutes by police and stewards.

Maybe the police will have learnt a basic lesson - if there is likely to be trouble inside the ground, it’s likely to be near the segregated area, not at the opposite corner.

Maybe it's because the club have requested it...

Happened to chance upon the escort on my way back, a huge number being taken along Anchor Road towards the Centre.

Not sure what their final destination was going to be, but if it was Temple Meads, they were taking the less than direct route.

I got stuck behind them. It was the most police vans I have ever seen. Don’t think I even saw that many during the riots in London a few years back...

I'm sure the escorts used to use the old rail track beside Cumberland Rd but that's a metrobus route now, I think.

That was a long time ago.

They've used a few different routes, depending where the away lot are drinking pre match and if they are getting train back or private coach.

It used to be that they'd take them past the bowlinh place but that was prime for an ambush.

Weve come across Millwall, Sheff W & Cardiff before completely lost near the old warehouses on the other side of the park.

Theres no way when theres that many away fans you can escort them all safely, unless of course you know what youre doing!

No they didn’t get in without tickets

yes there was fighting in the park

Hi Julie, I'd just like to say at the outset that I think it's really valuable that you post on here.

But wtf were A&SP playing at today? It's been obvious for weeks that it was going to be aggy this afternoon, but it seems to have taken you lot by complete surprise. I was foolishly labouring under the misapprehension that your strategic decisions were taken with a degree of operational intelligence, but you've been made to look like absolute amatuers.

Please try harder in future.

Yours, a concerned citizen.

Yeah Shocks, but it's much safer for them !

@JulieH speaking as someone who was at the game with an 8 year old, I think we all deserve an explanation as to why the away supporters were permitted to leave the ground at the same time as home supporters, particularly in light of the trouble that occurred during the match.

Most of us don’t go to the game for any other reason than to actually watch the game, especially those of us with children. To get caught up in the disorder as we left the designated family area at the end of the game strikes me as both an entirely unacceptable and completely avoidable scenario.

I don’t blame the police for the neanderthal behaviour of some “fans”, but I do expect them to make common sense decisions to protect the rest of us.

I saw this group of Jacks over the other side of the bypass intent on trouble. Couple of teenagers and two old enough to know better. They were kicking off about not being able to find their car which they parked at the cricket club. I went windmilling in and directed them round the corner. They had the nerve to taught me with “thanks, you deserve that win and good luck for the rest of the season” bastards!

Maybe in future the club should stick to their "policy" of only allowing two and a half grand in the away section. Anyone with half a brain knew what was going to happen , especially at such an emotive match!

I'm not sure how this would help. Surely 2500 away fans would still include the 100 or so intent on trouble.
