"Ashton Gate Stadium is formally investigating an incident that occurred between a minority of supporters at the Sky Bet Championship clash between Bristol City and Swansea City on Saturday.
Up to 800 visiting fans arrived at the stadium 20 minutes after kick-off and immediately removed the segregation nets on the east corner of the Atyeo Stand.
The situation was initially dealt with by the stewarding team and police in the vicinity.
Twenty-five Swansea City fans were removed during the game and there were a number of arrests.
Regrettably, several Bristol City supporters were involved in altercations in the corner of the Atyeo Stand and Dolman Stand before being apprehended.
As a result, two stewards and a police officer were treated for minor injuries.
Ashton Gate Stadium Managing Director Mark Kelly said: “Ashton Gate Stadium has a very strong record of match day safety and I can assure our fans that any home or away supporters that caused this unpleasant experience will be banned.
“The incident in its entirety was captured on CCTV and a formal investigation in conjunction with the Avon and Somerset Police match commander and our head of safety is under way.
“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise our safety team and stewards for taking control very quickly and dealing with this situation.”

Absolute rubbish from the club, I know someone who lives on Ashton Road (not a football fan) who saw the escort and he reckoned there may of been 200 at a push

Never 800, don't care what  the "officials " say. Fake news cobbled together by powers that be to make it sound harder to control than couple of hundred...............that's my take anyhow.

Absolutely right, I sit in the lower Dolman right by the Atyeo and noticed the first few arriving, looking like they were trying to find where the Anger Management Course was being held.   Assumed it was just a coachload arriving late, soon realised it was more than that and assumed it was the police escort, but - without doing a head count and they did seem to have got through the turnstiles pretty quickly -  I'd say it was around 100, 150 at a push.   The away end was already pretty packed at 3.00pm, so to say that 800 turned up at 3.20 is implying that just under a quarter of the entire Swansea section (3500?) turned up at that time, which is sheer nonsense!

Simples. To prevent the enevitable fighting in Greville Smythe afterwards.

**** me it wasn’t rocket science. And just think. If they’d done that the ******* dog would’ve been ok ?.

Odd though that @JulieH is happy to come on here and put one side of the story but when there’s a **** up or two you hear absolutely nothing.

I’m interested to see whether lessons have been learned from Saturday’s debacle when the mighty Leeds are in town....

Reckon they’ll arrive late? Or be allowed so many tickets? Or stand in the sterile areas? Or whether BCFC supporters will be allowed to swarm into that corner of the Dolman?

The mighty leeds

you could add wolves (maybe) , the rams, wba, the blues

all above have the potential to bring big followings

Crossing down by Spike Island?

Or is it Princes Street Bridge?

Princes Street Bridge.  We were in the Shakespeare and they were coming past the Thekla as we left.  We managed to walk to  the Hen and Chicken for a drink and then have a pint at the ground and still be in our seats in time for the game so god knows what way they were taken to get to the ground at 3.20pm.  Not on at all really and cant have helped proceedings - I would be mightily cheesed off if the boot was on the other foot that's for sure.

So would I. But I don’t think it would make me want to fight with anyone though.....

These are the questions I’ve asked of @JulieH and are the ones I’m waiting for an answer. I’m guessing I’m on ignore ?

Who agreed to allow Swansea an almost 50% more tickets and why?

Why were those fans who enjoyed an escort so late?

Why - after trouble during the game - were both sets of fans allowed to leave at the same time?

I’d really like to know the answers to these questions. Ultimate responsibility for the behaviour on Saturday rests with those who were behind it.

That however shouldn’t be used as an excuse for failure of decisions or planning on behalf of others - be that BCFC, the stewards or the police.

If you saw HTV West news tonight you'd have seen why. Some brass hat being interviewed said that they had no intelligence (he should have stopped right there ) of any impending trouble. He could have asked me (and I know **** all about  it, not ITK ) !

No mention of the complete cock up by the police

@slartibartfast sadly I didn’t.

And why am I not surprised that this is the view of the organisation ultimately managed by a failed master baker?

Based on Saturday I really don’t think the words police and intelligence should ever be used again in the same sentence....

We were walking down from the Golden Guinea to the Orchard and saw them. There were 2 mobs, one from Temple meads and one at Lloyds. They joined up and marched them down by Spike Island. We were waiting outside the Orchard for a taxi and they were trying to break out the escort to have a pop. There was only 6 of us. This was about 2.50, so there was no way they were ever gonna make kick off. It was a fair old mob, I estimated 700/800 at the time.

Is it just me that still doubts that every one in that escort had their ticket scanned , at the rate they emerged in the Atyeo ?

How many ‘turnstiles’ at Away end ?

Those numbers are going to take a fair few mins to get through even with all ‘turnstiles’ open

Theres no way that many went through the turnstiles, it would've took about 20 minutes!!!
