Never to the dark side
Ian Rush never would shout put it on me head to a cross that was coming in Its very difficult for a winger to be running at 100mph trying to get round a defender and then look up and hit a pin point pass to a striker Rush would always MOVE to where he though the bll was coming in Weiman was like jack in the box for his goal Weiman was in three different posistions in point six of a second

Scare_Man
I’m sure I recall Rush used to say for strikers to defend from the front, we like to call it a high press these days and we had that often yesterday, AW in particular and as a result we won the ball back in some great positions

I can remember an old coach of mine saying that not only is Ian Rush one of the best strikers around, he was one of the best defenders for his team. Worked his socks off & never gave defenders a moments peace. COYR

BobBobSuperBob
Lots of pisstaking here yet NTTTDS’s astute point about AWs movement to invite / dictate the cross is overlooked And yes, a trait of Rush to make the movement to invite the set up

hertsexile
Wiseman always puts in a shift works hard off the ball and gives us options. So pleased he scored yesterday. He is an asset to the team. Very underated by many on this site.

With due respect Super And you need to put down the Liverpool scarf occasionally NTTDs is not suggesting AW is comparable to Ian Rush as a player , he’s , quite rightly IMHO suggesting AWs movement to find space to allow and invite the cross was ‘ Rush like’....Which...........it was

If you actually watch him his movement is head n shoulders above any other in a red shirt, MT the only one close Problem is few are quick enough or have the vision to deliver the ball
