England V Poland U21 (Merged)

I presume that the FA just 'rent' the stadium for the night and have agreed to a pricing structure that allows City to discount tickets for season ticket holders.

Quite a few FEWERS aren't going because they don't want to give any cash to 'they gurt Teds' but, if they just buy a ticket and don't spend anything at the stadium, they wouldn't be.

Amazed at just how bitter they appear to be.

I Rovers fan I work with runs a junior side - they have their fa charter allocation & 50+ kids/adults will be heading to the South Stand. He's actually quite looking forward to seeing the stadium. I'm looking forward to seeing how depressed he is on Friday after he realises how far behind us they really are off the pitch (and on it in a non-footballing Desso v Mud  Bath sense). Anyway, for me it'll be nice to not have to worry about the result for a change, and find out whether I can actually see anything from 15 rows back in the Upper Lansdown. That's assuming I can both work out how to get up there and be fit enough to do it. Come on England.

Real shame this is a Thursday evening. It’s a very family-friendly occasion with family-friendly prices, but on a weekday school night. Rules a lot of us out.

One night will hardly damage a school career...

When I look back to '72 I honestly cant remember one days exam revision but I do remember the night Ashton Gate hosted England vs East Germany under 23's … the Germans won 1 -0 in front of a 20,000 crowd.

Future England stars that night included, K Keegan, F Lampard, M McDonald, Mick Channon, ex Gas Liverpools Larry Lloyd, etc..

Like I said, cant remember suffering from lack of a nights school revision but can well remember going to The Gate that night in 1972 and exchanging waves with the East Germans as their coach went past us in Bedminster after the game on their way back to behind the 'Iron Curtain' .

Remember feeling so sorry for them and their lack of freedom compared to us in the West despite them being first class athletes.

So I say C Red if you and anyone else wishing to go can get tickets, sod school, don't let that deny the kids a possible lifetime memory, it wont harm 'em, will it?

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy (Jack Nicholson 1980)

Missed out on tickets for this up to now for various reasons, and now struggling to get 4 together, but the east end corner is showing up as unreserved as usual? Do we know this for sure?

Perhaps @Matt Parsons BCFCSLO can answer?

Hi Phil, you should still be able to purchase 4 seats together as the upper tier of the Lansdown is open.

Well it does have a nearby stream for them to do their washing.

You've gone and done it now. This will no doubt be reported on AssHat, and tomorrow night hordes of dishevelled, unwashed from North Bristol will descend upon our car park to watch the game for free on the stream.

In light of recent situations regarding fans of Leeds  being refused entry to "home" areas of the ground. Where does this fixture stand with regard to persons of polish heritage? Asking for a friend as somebody i might know may know of a perfectly harmless polish person who may or may not have purchased a ticket in an area usually reserved for, shall we say, "home" fans.

I don't think there is any segregation tomorrow night, which could get interesting if there is some niggle in the game

Well, the entire Atyeo Stand is for Polish fans only.

I'm sure there won't be a problem if there's any Polish fans in other parts of the ground though. I mean it's an U21 game, and a friendly at that!

To be honest any Polish of the hooligan persuasion would be thick as shit to think there would be anyone to play with at this match.

Should be very very noisy though and their players should feel well at home.

Amazed at just how bitter they appear to be.

I’m not, my wife got into a row with one of them a year or so ago at a dinner party, because the guy claimed he “couldn’t go to rugby anymore because it was at trashton now.

She called him an idiot and I just laughed

What an idiot. I have supported City and Bris since 1950. When the Dunfords stole the ground, I still went there to watch rugby. I was supporting my rugby club, not making any sort of statement. Shows how narrow minded and stupid the Blue few are.

I wish the club could have negotiated a period of say a week of sales where season ticket holders seats were reserved.

I've ended up in S82 as I completely forgot to book tickets. It's advertised as a unreserved area but as we all know everyone will have a seat number on their tickets as that's just the way it works. There will be a lot of non football regulars at this game so I am slightly worried there may be a few arguements in this area as people argue about people being in their seat.

Guessing that because there is an affiliated 'England' supporters club for those who attend games, they have to give their members as much opportunity as anyone else.

That's only for full international matches

R/e the above, at the end of the day it isn't a city match we're just hosting it

The S82 tickets don't actually have seat numbers, instead they do just say 'Unreserved' so there shouldn't be any issues. ?

The Ryan Air flight due to arrive at Bristol Airport from Warsaw at 17.45 will be greeted by a huge Police presence, and Vodka and Tyskie fuelled fans will be escorted to the ground (Swansea style) via the Knight's Templar near Temple Meads and will arrive at AG approximately 20 minutes late;)

Actually, having been to many U23/U21 games at AG they are tremendous family orientated nights, particularly remember when we played Turkey around 1985 and they had a very vocal bunch of fans (more like 100 rather than the 3000+ Polish fans coming in tonight) in the centre of the old enclosure, all a lot of fun. Also remembering being in the Atyeo for the Italy game and being impressed at the numbers from all over England coming to watch, and I don't just mean locals who support Liverpool/Manchester etc.

The fact that the ground has been vastly upgraded and it looks like being a near sell out,  the fact that we have 2 current City players in the squad, as well as a very popular former player, is all good for the club and Bristol as a whole.  Could not get to this one, will be recording on BT Sport, hope everyone enjoys the game.
