Football cliches and modern terms that really bug you...

I've just mentioned one... 'marquee signing'  in another thread…. that's one that really grates on me.

 

Football is littered with cliché's nowadays, thanks, not least, to tv commentators and pundits....

Some of these must bug you too, which oft heard football related words, clichés  and descriptions get up your nose?

There was  contact so  he's entitled to go down.

Game of two halves - in our case, a season of two halves.

He's given the referee a decision to make.

Technology will help referees.

You're missing the point! :)

Visiting fans who post on forums of other clubs who feel the need to add 'in peace' to their opening salvo.

At no point did I think we would ever get something like, 'Villa fan in devious attempt to commit genocide' - so, take your 'in peace' message and shove it up your hoop, make your point and then await the reply.
