AppyDAZE
The question is "would he have done that to a home fan? I know the answer and we all do. I would have loved our players to go over and confront the cock Yes, it's wrong to go onto a pitch but there is the Grealish type thing and there is joyous celebrating ffs

Tbh, if you are referring to Mr. Greenslade in terms of the fan who was jailed, well he seemingly had previous at football within relatively recent times- 2013 Bristol derby, he had appeared in court about 5 years ago. Whether the 2013 sentence, punishment was justified is a different debate, but he had a suspended sentence that was handed down in 2014. Incredible he would be a recidivist in such a short timescale- admittedly the timespan for the suspended sentence to be implemented had explored, but it definitely would have been taken into account surely. The actions (note I am not referring to him as one- he may well be very sharp and just do daft things), of an idiot at best unfortunately.
NOTBLUE
I think all the fans that went on to the pitch ,against Man U last year ,should get their doors bashed in at 5 in the morning and be dragged away in a headlock. It’s was they deserve. Yeah, he shouldn't have gone on the pitch, but headlock? Well OTT. Armlock or arm up behind the back a more appropriate restraint technique in this instance I'd suggest. As you say, the 2 scenarios were totally different- and as for the jailed fan, it is quite plausible unless it was 2 of the same name- @harrys seemed to suggest it was the same one-he had previous in recent times which would help to explain the custodial sentence. Hardly a surprise after the whole Grealish situation, far too heavy handed but had that same guy made it onto the pitch and struck a player everyone would be saying "Why didn't the steward stop him?". JulieH
Just don’t go on the pitch at all. No confusion then as to whether you will be arrested , charged, put in a headlock, stadium ban etc, just simply don’t go on the pitch . It really isn’t difficult , 99% of the rest of the crowd managed it.

Mr Popodopolous
He will get a ban of some length, I am sure. 3 year ban? That said, I'd be surprised if the steward is above some sort of charge for using such force...probably both should happen.

EnderMB
Given the past few weeks, where fans had been jumping onto the pitch and punching/pushing players, I quite frankly don't give a **** how fans are treated if they jump the barriers and try to run towards the players. There are more effective ways of subduing a person, but I can see what the steward was trying to do, at least. They wanted to take the person away from the pitch and outside without disrupting the game, and while it was overly aggressive, they did just that. Frankly, I'd rather see a steward drag some *** off the pitch by their neck than see a fan jump onto the pitch and fatally injure a player. These things can (not saying they should but they can) happen once- and I honestly don't know how his punishment for Bristol derby fitted with the crime...but to get yourself into trouble at football again after a 3 year banning order was it and about 5 and a half years on. In a high profile derby at that! What can you say.

All the steward needed to do was grab him like he's trained to, as the other steward did and escort him off the field. These no need to get him in a choke hold and drag him off by the throat!
