As in the the title, why? Probably been covered somewhere already but just wanted to know why its at 12:00.

It’s to give us maximum recovery time before the Sheffield Weds game on Monday. We play at 12 and Weds don’t play until the evening, away at Norwich.

At a guess - it could be the Old Bill dictating the ko time. Maybe they thought that as Reading is relatively close they’ll bring a large following ( correct ) and are adopting the most effective strategy to deal with it...........:dunno:

It’s purely to give us maximum recovery time, trust me on this.

Good point! I hadn’t considered that.

You hadn’t considered it, knowing that we’ve got another game on Monday..? Yet felt compelled to post a “fake news” reply on this thread..? Odd!

You'd be better of posting a song suggestion..!

I quite like the idea that if we get the win then the pressure is on the rest of the pack.

The rest thing does not sound right either as everyone is playing Friday then Monday. Not sure you can ask to play earlier just to gain a few hours advantage over another side

This is the reason, City confirmed this was the reason when the fixture was originally moved to a 12pm kick off.

It’s our home game, we could have played the game tonight if we had wanted to do so.

Interested as to whether Reading will travel on the day or have travelled down the night before. Probably disrupts their pre-game routing for a day if they travel on the day despite it being just 90 minute drive given the early start, due to players being up earlier than they would be, match day food etc.

Hopefully they leave in the morning, get caught in traffic, turn up 5 minutes before the game and have to play their centre forward in goal as their keepers taken too long to get ready haha!!

I think this was announced pretty much as soon as fixtures came out last summer, and that was the reason given.

Like you I’m surprised clubs have that flexibility to gain what could be perceived as a competitive advantage, but it does seem so.

I guess the reason it doesn’t happen often - or seem so - is it would in reality need a local club happy to set off for a midday kick off and agree that for their fans. Even then ordinarily it would be Police dictated. As it happens it’s Reading, one of the most vanilla teams in the country.

Hope the majority of our squad have been larks this week:

The results showed a peak performance in late afternoon, but then the scientists looked separately at early-type people, late-type people and those in the middle.

This time the gap between the best and worst times was 26%, and a far more complicated picture emerged.

  • Larks - or early risers - peaked at 12:00
  • Intermediate types peaked just before 16:00
  • Owls - or late types - peaked not long before 20:00
