Surely the R*vers who have been in existence since the late 1800's from a city that has been around since the 11th century would be able to garner a larger following than a club and a town that have next to no history? They have actually achieved some success in their history and have won the League Cup. They have also played in the Premier League and at the time if they could have kept hold of Glenn Hoddle as a manager they would have achieved more success. Obviously the sags' Watney Cup success runs that very close though.
Mr Popodopolous
Read their site for the first time in a while. Saw a post that was interesting... Gas Logic eh...love it! Granted it seems a pretty generous gesture tbh to the poster but let's look at a few facts: Quote I’ve bought one for the new season for the first time in years, not because I’ll use it as I play on Saturdays, but because I’m financially in a position to do so and hope it helps securing our short term future. Fair enough, altruism- but well I dunno what to say other than to laugh! It's a mixture of altruism and terrible business sense so far... Quote However, the majority are not going to be like me with next to no responsibilities, so to ask people to spend hundreds of pounds on something they have no idea when they’ll be able to use it, may have been furloughed and As such are not being paid as much (if at all) is a massive ask for something that is not an essential in life. Not really selling the prospect to me so far if I'm wondering about what to do for the coming season... Quote if anyone can’t afford a ST for the new season due to the burden corona has put on all of us, I’ve got an adult ST in the blackthorn end they can use every now and then when I’m playing so just give me a shout . Ha- again altruism yes, I get that- but if you're passing round the season ticket the club will benefit even less!! That's before we even look at when people will even be able to attend games again- though I guess social distancing isn't an issue at their ground anyway- did they need to shut down from a spectators POV. Gotta laugh really...part of me wonders if it's a club employee or mole looking to lure people in with this offer so they can find who has been passing around tickets/sharing tickets and ban them/recover some cash! Because if it isn't, the basic premise- and yes thjere seems to be an element of altruism for sure, but the basic premise is: Buy season ticket That you- or nobody else- will be able to use thusfar due to Social Distancing measures that may last for months yet. That you won't be able to use due to football at amateur level (though much different to Rovers quality)? Lending out a season ticket is one less ticket or season ticket that someone else might by- so the club don't gain anything and probably lose if anything. Plus if one instead of two, less spent on a matchday! Either a sting or GasLogic- Love it! If it's the former, bet a few will fall for it too! bert tann
2 hours ago, pongo88 said: Basically MJ Abott Ltd laid some turf. Exactly. Stevenage were fortunate in that the land had been properly prepared before football pitches were laid out and in the 1960’s international teams even trained there. At the Colony one can imagine the experts from MJ Abbott recommending that Mr Al-Quidi have them make a proper survey of the pitch foundations laid by the rugby club and, if necessary, give him a quote for the installation of a suitable drainage system. And it can be predicted that the serial blundered would ignore the advice of the experts and his colleagues and, in a last desperate attempt to placate his Bristol Post led fan club, tell MJ Abbott to “please, just go ahead and lay some turf”. It will be some time before we discover if winter weather makes the pitches unplayable and training sessions are confined to a subbuteo table in the analysis suite. But the chances are that Wendy is right, and we can look forward to a soggy reincarnation of the M J Abbott madhouse.
