One belter on their forum is questioning why it's been arranged for a Friday, the day before a match.

Not sure he has worked out where the legal system and a game of football sit in the hierarchy of importance. I can't see the judge poring over a fixture list to see when best suits Bristol Rovers.

I wonder if said belter realises that Barton is likely to be in court for at least a few days. Not just an "inconvenient"  Friday before a game.

I wonder if said belter realises that IF he is found guilty and IF he is given a custodial sentence he won't be picking a team, working on tactics, or taking training from HMP where-ever on a Friday (or any other day for that matter!)

I fully exepect most of their in-bred morons to blame-shift like crazy if he is convicted (it is what they do!). In their deluded eyes it will be the fault of the governement, the criminal Justice system, the EFL, us "Gurt Teds",  Steve Lansdown, Bristol Post, Barnsley, Wycombe Wanderers and anyone else not actually connected with the case. It definitely won't be the fault of their current manager, or anyone to do with Rovers even though their club has employed someone currently awaiting trial for such an offence.

Hmmm....

Joey Barton seems to be Wael's equivalent of Gary Johnson and Mark Ashton for Steve and Jon Lansdown.

Wait for his brother to be appointed chief scout next; he should be out by now.

Barton's brother Michael Barton was sentenced to life imprisonment (with a tariff of 17 years) for his involvement in the racially motivated murder of Anthony Walker in 2005.[196]

Here is the quote from the horse's mouth replying to the statement "Joey Barton's new trial will take place on Friday, November 26. "

Joke. How is it sensible to rearrange for the day before a game? I notice it just states the Friday and there's no mention of the number of days. Does this mean they now think it will be wrapped up quickly?

Yeah, they'll probably just skip all the boring 'evidence' and 'cross-examination' nonsense and go straight to the 'asking the jury wevver he done it or not" bit and have it wrapped up before lunch.

In league 2 (we were in league 2, so no change there then)
Training ground (we didn’t have one then)
The Mem is still the Mem, but we have two extra tents, refreshed tarmac behind the Thatchers, and we have two new stands, even if they’re tents.

We’ve not become Man City over night but things aren’t any worse than in February 2016. Not much better, granted, but there has been progress.

Brilliant!  The only club they thought to reference themselves to?  The newly crowned PL champions!  Priceless!

And since when did having '2 new tents' equate to having '2 new stands'?  Ah yes, #gaslogic!

So they have taken a member of their board, who was previously Head of recruitment and director of football, and given him a role similar to that of Tins, where amongst their duties they will oversee the loan of developing players...

Now, Tins does a fantastic job, made all the more challenging by the huge number of players we have developed meaning his work provides first team opportunities, players who might struggle to make it at their stage of their career to make their mark in the Championship, but the league experience still gives them a chance of a league career.

What is their loans manager going to do from a basement club? Send players off to the park and see if anyone fancies a kick about.

Tinpot.

That is 2 new massive stands to get the "locked out" crowd in, those stands must have taken all of One Whole Day to put up.

I think, from what we have seen so far, that giving Special Agent Dick Barton total Obenfuhrer status is a marvellous idea. He has able to take them from fifth worst team in the Division to easily worst, whilst being hampered by a DoF. T’will be wonderful to see what ‘magic’ he will weave when totally unfettered.

Down down, to the Downs has a nice ring to it.

If anyone has a spare few minutes, pop over to Asschat and have a read of the thread titled "Wael - Is he taking us in the wrong direction" good thought out arguments by Harrystokegas who started the thread.

He is set upon straight away Wum, delete the thread and more, sums up their support heads firmly in the sand.

You don't even have to go past the first of 10 pages to get the personality of a typical Sag supporter.

I was only thinking yesterday, we must be getting near the time the swamp dwellers turn on Wael. Let's be honest here, he's done the square root of naff all and it's cost them a fair few quid, they haven't got, plus he's seen them back to the crap level he took over at (I think).

Blinding work Wael, blinding work. Bluster and waffle can take you anywhere.

Right down by the sea walls with no nets on the goal post’s.Strictly Downs League division 4.

Hang on! I used to play on the Downs and at a level a damned sight higher than that shower. No, I’m not having it, they will bring the whole level down beyond embarrassing. And that includes being sick on numerous occasions running the 15 miles to the sea walls after a good Friday night down the Hope and Anchor...

For all the piss taking they do about Lansdown blowing millions just for us to stay in the Championship you’d think they’d realise that Wally has spent over £20million just to take them back to the basement ?

On your suggestion, i read the whole thread. What is amazing is on that sad excuse of a fan forum is that the moderators are the worse rabble rousers. Normally its the other way around, the moderators trying to instil calmness and reason.  But not on Asschat. No.  And the worse is that Owl moderator!  What an amazing set of people.

I felt sorry for harrystokegas, he made a argument saying the club is going down the pan and maybe someone else should run it.  Not an unreasonable opinion if you were a Rovers supporter to be thinking that at this time. But he's obv. very naive to the forum and the type of posters on it, and how they react to anything not on the party line.

Indeed, if we had just been relegated to the fourth division, I have no doubt there would be many ‘Lansdown out’ posts and really can’t imagine people being vilified if they did post that

Club President, Wael Al Qadi,  gives an update to supporters on plans and ambitions for next season in his latest Open Letter.

'Dear Gasheads,

As we approach the busy pre-season period, I thought it would be an apt time to write to you, in light of our plans for next season and the recent changes to the Board’s structure and personnel.

This week we welcomed the appointment of Chris Gibson MBE to the Club's Board, in the role of non-executive Director.

Chris has served in the specialist armed forces and is also part of the FA's Pro Licence programme. He has a wealth of experience that would be a benefit to any football club.

His role will add transparency to Board activities and he will also act as a liaison with the club's supporter groups. He will also bring business expertise that can be utilised in all areas of the club to help improve standards and operations. We look forward to working with Chris, as we look to build a platform for success at the football club.

Also in the past few days, we announced the removal of the position of Director of Football from the club's Board structure, an action that was taken in light of our recent relegation.

Joey and his team are fully in charge and responsible for the recruitment of players.

Tommy Widdrington will remain on the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the creation of a loan department.

We see this area as key in the development of our homegrown talent, establishing beneficial relationships with clubs that can entertain valuable playing experiences for players emerging from the club's Academy and looking to break into the first-team setup. In the past, these players have played within the Development Squad structure, however, the focus will now be on these players gaining competitive experience to further aid their journey into the first team.

Tommy's role will also include the desire to mirror the strategy of the first team, which is constructed by the Manager, down to the Academy. This is vital to ensure that all football departments grow and progress with a common theme of values and approaches.

On the topic of recruitment, as the initial signings will have shown, Joey will be continued to be supported in the transfer market this summer, as we look to rebuild and reshape the playing squad. I'm in constant and daily dialogue with him and his team in regards to the progress on recruitment as we edge closer to the beginning of pre-season. We have all seen the type of characters Joey is looking to recruit this summer, with many of our new signings holding a vast amount of experience and promotions on their CVs.

I did call the four new signings (Mark Hughes, Sam Finley, Paul Coutts and Nick Anderton) on Facetime shortly after they signed and while they were at The Quarters, to welcome them to the football club and wish them every success in their time representing Bristol Rovers.

Every change that has been made and every decision taken is with a view to giving us the best possible chance of success on the pitch, whilst also continuing our development and progression off it. However, it goes without saying that the only target of everyone at the club is to achieve promotion next season at the first time of asking.

When fans return for the first game back it will be an emotional moment, as we pay our respects to all those who we have lost over the past 14 months.

Our fans are truly our 12th man and are an integral part of our success. From the Manager to the players, they all say the atmosphere inside a packed out Mem is very special.

The recent pandemic has impacted our finances extremely heavily. If we passed on this cost to supporters, it would result in Season Ticket prices increasing by over £1,000 per supporter. This is a burden that is my responsibility to bear, as it is with all owners. I, therefore, have to once again pay tribute to owners all around the country and all around the world, for the often unseen backing that they have given to football clubs to guide them through these difficult times.

In light of the widespread impact of the pandemic, it's been encouraging and humbling to see that we recently passed the 3,500 milestone for Season Ticket sales for next season. At the time of writing, we are just over 500 season tickets away from our highest total in the fourth tier (as far as our records go) and we are already at our second highest number. This once again shows the unwavering and vast support that this football club has and we are incredibly thankful to every one of you that has pledged your support for the new season.

If any supporters are still unsure whether to buy a season ticket, I would urge you to do so. Our team will be making every effort to ensure that the stadium is as safe as can be and we are looking to build a squad to mount a promotion push. But we can only do that with your support, bring your friends and your families and get behind the boys, because it's only if we are together that we can achieve something special this season.

Our pre-season schedule is already taking shape, with the process of announcing our fixtures already under way. As we approach a higher degree of normality, it was heartening to see our fans rushing to buy tickets for our trips to both Melksham and Havant and Waterlooville – seeing the football community pull together, as we emerge from these turbulent times.

I hope you stay safe and healthy and I look forward to seeing everyone back at the Mem, in full voice, when we return in August.

Thanks for your support,

FTG

Dictated by Mr Barton and signed in his absence by Wael'

I am actually still going through it (its good entertainment) you are correct that Owl mod is one on his own.
