Monkeh
"Bristol Rovers is a fantastic football club, with a proud tradition and a fan-base envied by dozens of clubs higher up the football league, and which deserves a home that is fit-for-purpose.Read more: http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Breaking-news-Bristol-Rovers-lose-crucial/story-26891154-detail/story.html#ixzz3fltB03Vm Follow us: @BristolPost on Twitter | bristolpost on Facebook The arrogance of their club is astonishing. Who exactly are these dozens of clubs higher up the league that are envious of Roverzzz prowed tradition and fan base?? They are basically implying that they have a prouder tradition and better fan base than every club in League One! Laughable. It's this kind of arrogance that will no doubt see them waste further money on an appeal, despite the fact that very few succeed in the Court of Appeal. Indeed, I mean I'm sure the likes of Swindon, Bradford, Sheffield United, Portsmouth wished they had gates of 6k and take 27k to the biggest game in their history.... They are so far up their own ass that if people would see them wali g it would just be an ass with legs

Rocky
Winner - Right so sainsburys acted legally but certainly not morally. Why don't we do the same let's fill a sainsburys car park of choice full of gasheads before opening and then when they open all enter the store. Fill our trolleys full of goodies and make our way to the check outs let the cashier put all the good through the till and then drop the bombshell that it is far to expensive and walk out the shop. None of this is illegal and they couldn't do a thing about it. Bristol Rob
I think the campaign for 30,000 Gas to boycott Sainsbury's is gonna fly. They've been in training for this for ages, in fact the top 5000 even made a coordinated effort to no go to the non-league play off final. Cracking effort that. samo II
god I must get on with some work but very distracted for some reason. Can't think what it is. Me too. Grim day for Rovers, but get the feeling that the grimmest is yet to come. Broke as **** already, and now liable for court costs, as well as no new ground; don't see them doing this "overtaking" of us their fans s frequently crow about any time soon. Need to be getting rid of that board, and sharpish, if they want to avoid disaster.

CotswoldRed
They are no different then any other business, they want to buy cheap and sell high to make maximum profit, While the farmers don't get treated well, but again it's the farmers fault, for everyone that refuse to deal with a supermarket another one will appear and undercut them, If they all refused to sell to the supermarket then the problem wouldn't exist but they do It isn't as simple as that. The market for farming produce is utterly dominated by supermarkets. There is, in essence, no market for their goods outside of the supermarkets themselves so they are merely puppets and have no other choice. They need support from the government (laugh!) - they can't do it with piecemeal demos or refusing to sell, thus nailing their own coffin shut. CotswoldRed
They already have support and also have massive subsidies from the EU Arguably. Rather than the taxpayer footing the bill through subsidy though, the supermarket should be made to pay a fair price in the first place. While there is no effective monopoly the supermarkets should be made to play ball. Governments in the pockets of business though.
redsquirrel
Hopefully not as Sainsbury's do employ a lot of people, but saying that there is bound to be some knock on from a drop in sales of Special Brew at stores across north Bristol due to Ragass fans boycotting said stores. it will be far outweighed by the increase in profits due to the sudden decline in shoplifting. all we need now is a superstore at the uwe, sainsburys maybe???

pongo88
Made in Bristol TV channel Facebook page, check out this beauty - This shows that supermarkets are not about building communities they are about making huge profits. The way they have treated farmers over the years shows their true colours. Rotten to the core.People who make these sort of comments are living in a fantasy world. Of course supermarkets try to make a profit as this is the objective of any business. The directors of any business have a legal responsibility to make the company a success. This is something the Sainsbury's directors are aware of, but something Nick Higgs seems to have forgotten.

While there is no effective monopoly the supermarkets should be made to play ball. Governments in the pockets of business though. The thing is, where do you draw the line ? Give dairy farmers minimum price protection; and other suppliers / industries will want the same. I sell a manufactured product, we don't have any price protection from cheap shitty foreign imports, what make farmers special ? F.W.I.W. I still have milk delivered to the doorstep. It's (a lot) more expensive, but I have the satisfaction of knowing that I am keeping a milkman employed. The milk he supplies is not hammered down on price by the supermarkets either, so it helps the farmers. We, as consumers can always help, by not insisting upon buying the cheapest product, all the time. bs3
Sorry i'll take the piss out of r*vers at any opportunity, but this is frankly a terrible decision for our City. No its not. Its a commercial decision by Sainsbury not wanted to build a supermarket ,its nothing to do with the mayor, the council, nimbys or the so called green lobby. If the Rovers had the finance the ground would have been built. The fact is there are a two bit dodgy outfit who deserves nothing.
