"dammit"  I was working off my Sainsburys shopping list instead of the contract!

Haha when you click on the Sainsburys hyperlink it opens up at their website where they have "great offers" on one side of the web page and "Personal Loans" on the other.......... just right for the boys in blue then :).

Mr Higgs stated

I have been told Rovers have a excellent case to get Wycombe punished after Rovers were relegated out of the league. Wrong

Rovers have a watertight contract with Sainsburys. Wrong

Today, I have been told Rovers have excellent grounds for an appeal.

I presume he will rack up more legal fees on the basis of third time lucky.

Thank God I haven't got his lawyers :)

From Para 24 of the judgement:

There is little doubt that the Agreement is tortuously, laboriously and in some respects

badly, drafted. It makes any draftsman itch to have a try at it. However I have to

decide what it means.

I just saw Nick Higgs on BBC local news feeling sorry for himself and complaining that Rovers only lost on a techicality. He just doesn't grasp that "technicalities" are the clauses and sub clauses of any contract and are the basis of the agreement. If you don't comply with these "technicalities" then you lose. Simple

It's ironic that they have failed to sell thier stadium on such a technicality when they managed to buy it on one, shafting Bristol RFC in the process. What comes around goes around.

And the fact that it was written in crayon didn't exactly help either.

My crappy neighbours who claim to be Gasheads, but never actually attend any matches, have just come back from doing their big weekly shop. I doubt if they have heard the news as they had a sea of orange carrier bags!

Just had a quick trawl through twitterland......what is the link with Noel Edmunds, is he G*s?

I've never liked him since Multi Coloured Swap Shop, and maybe it's all becoming very clear now as to why......

You're not one of those whose parents banned Tiswas from the house?

He's a friend of Geoff Dunford, and has brought his son along to some games. I think that it's his son who is into the football more than him though.

Straws and clutching springs to mind - desperate times!

How delicious that whilst the political gerrymandering of BCC (Councilors, Planners and their EHO) would not itself have been sufficient to produce today's outcome, that Rovers' explicit and wholehearted support for Sainbury's S73 application when combined saw fit to provide the perfect storm that ensured the Acceptable Store Planning Permission could not be substantiated.

Oh dear, how sad, never mind.....

Personally don't see any appeal happening ,the end is nigh piggs  :clapping:

If it doesn't, what sort of financial state will the Gas be in? The more reasonable Gasheads (yes, I know) must realise that it's not about the UWE stadium any more - it's about survival.

An appeal would merely ensure that the club went under, which is not to say that Higgs won't pursue it.

Ah, I'm with you now. I still believe we can sell the Mem, but for less than Sainsbury's were going to pay. The big question is though, who will make up the shortfall?

This is where I can see the club being an attractive proposition. To buy the club should not costs much. Sell the Mem, put in an extra 10 or 15 million, and you have a stadium fit for the Premier League. Planning permission is already in place. Rovers are in fact, are a much better proposition than a club like Bournemouth.

I'm trying to stay positive.

a deluded blue earlier today..

I find it a bit strange those on this forum who are perfectly happy to slate big business against the little man; the socialist struggle so to speak much of that argument, in principle, being admirable even if the tenet of the politics I might not agree with... ie if Socialism worked it would be perfect so to speak.. Only to then take great glee in such a behemoth crushing the little guy: Sainsbury over a Football Club. Just find that a tad sad and hypocritical.. not saying anyone in particular but there are fans on this forum who might just wish to ponder on that.

A Rovers spokesman:-

"We consider that Sainsbury's acted in bad faith and did their utmost to stall the purchase at every possible juncture. For instance, the Judge found that Sainsbury's could and should have engaged with local councillors and objectors during the planning process and kept the club informed of progress, which they did not do. "

The strongly worded statement went on: "The way in which Sainsbury's has conducted itself, repeatedly pledging its public support to the project (not only to the club but also to local MPs and Councillors) having already privately decided to pull out, encouraged the Club, UWE and both Bristol City and South Gloucestershire Councils to expend significant amounts of time and energy in connection with the plans to build the new stadium and ultimately left the club with no option but to sue Sainsbury's to keep this plan alive.

So its OK, for some, that a major Bristol public sector employer, Council, and a private business expended millions in man hours and cash only for it to be squashed by a ruthless PLC just so one can gloat.?

Its fine to poke a bit of fun, we all know that, but stop and think for a moment.. this is a bad and a sad day for what is fair and just in every sense of the word.

Indeed. It's a mirror image of the way Bristol Rovers FC behaved in its relations with Bristol RFC.

I don't believe in two wrongs = a right. That sounds a bit too much like Netanyahu.

Who said anything about right? It rather undermines the Rovers' claim that they were treated unethically, though. Some might use the word 'karma'.

Pretty sure the court decided Sainsbury's have done nothing wrong?
