If they can't afford to build it at UWE how can they afford to build it anywhere else? Just asking like.

They'll do what they always do; whore themselves around scrounging for money.  It always been their ambition: have a brand new stadium but not have to pay for it.

Exactly. They may well one day play their home games in a new stadium but they will never own one.

Oh dear, the blue few are getting a bit twitchy over on slag chat about lack of progress on the "Pie in the Sky" stadium. Apparently they've got their eyes on a kids park half way up Muller Road as a plan B. Blimey, plan B? They must be on Plan F by now at least

This the beauty of Plan-B - they dont have to build at all! The kids park is a perfect solution for "the countries sixth richest club" - four jumpers for goalposts, maybe a white plastic chair for wally and his watch, and a £20 white plastic gazebo from B&Q for the fans and they are sorted. Its all vey much back to their roots of non-league football.

And there it is, Rovers ahead of us in a table.

I've been telling you for years that the Merchant Venturers  hold the key to Rovers future and it now appears that a sixty four year old member of that esteemed fraternity has the power to decide our fate.  Rovers independence was traditionally upheld by custodians who fought valiantly to preserve our identity and keep our dreams alive but everything may be about to change. As well meaning as the Al-Qadi family might be they could have unwittingly destroyed the fragile balance which has kept Rovers in existence as an actual or potential rival to Bristol City for so many years. Now it seems we may be destined to become a feeder club for the Robins and a tenant to elements among those maritime trading rogues who have been so keen to retrieve the pot of gold which they believe was taken from them in 1998.

Hi All,

Long time lurker, but felt the need to share this.

I work at UWE, and we recently had an update to our 'Strategy 2020' which mentioned all the recent, and ongoing, building works. It didn't mention the UWE Stadium, so after a bit of digging I found this, it's are available to the public, so no insider knowledge or anything...........

Over the next decade, we will be landscaping and transforming the 70 acres next to the campus into a new UWE Stadium and car park. The future home of Bristol Rovers Football Club, the stadium will provide:..............

It may be ready for the 2026/27 season then?

I had a look on their forum, (God I feel dirty now :( ) but Ican't see that they have picked up on this timescale, but then I can't make head or tail of their set up there.

I did see something about how Dopey has been given the all clear to "strengthen" their squad and someone claiming they made 3-400k out of the Chelsea game, which sounds quite high, but it depends on how much they charged for the tickets I guess. I would think that money would have gone by now to make up the week by week deficit caused by them constantly falling below the 10k break even figure.

It will be interesting to see if they do actually spend any money on players or the ground.

On gaschat a few years ago, someone posted a genuine plea "Why can't someone just give us a ground"?

Chris Booy? Perhaps of relevance that he resigned as a director of Bristol Sport on October 7th? Although Keith Dawe also left the board of Bristol Sport on the same day...

And why wouldn't someone just give them a ground?  Bestest, most loyal fans in the world; amazing home and away support;  everyones second favourite team; as passionate as they come; 'famous' kit - who wouldn't want to be involved in that?

I think so.

If  "the bruvvers" want their money back the only way is to sell the Mem with whatever is left over being be used to fund the family's toy football club alongside partners from "the Bristol sporting community".

The UWE want a stadium and if it is funded and owned by some of "their own" with Rovers as tenants what better outcome could there be for the MV's ?

If Booy is anything to do with facilitating a result for Rovers he would be a ******* traitor to Bristol RFC. I would find that very hard to believe.

So the Football and Rugby Chairman both resigned - seems odd?

One of the experts Bristol Rovers appointed earlier this year to help the club push the new stadium project forward has resigned.

The club's director Lee Atkins has announced yesterday his decision to step down from the Board.

Mr Atkins is also a director of the property company Fenimore Group and Rovers have confirmed he has found juggling the two roles a challenge, which has led to the resignation.

An accountant by training, he worked in the City of London working in the wholesale insurance markets, investment banking markets and hedge funds.

A move into a family office business followed, where he was first introduced to the Al-Qadi family, the owners of the football club, some 15 years ago.

In statement the club said: "The role of assisting the club with its affairs as well as dedicating time to his personal business a much bigger distraction than he anticipated.

"The Club would like to express its gratitude to Lee for his significant contribution during this exciting period."

In March Rovers announced the appointment of three new members of staff.

The club has confirmed there will be no further comment issued regarding the impact the resignation will have on the plans for the new stadium.

Rovers president Wael Al-Qadi reaffirmed a commitment to building a new stadium on land owned by the University of West England (UWE) when addressing supporters during a question and answer session at the Memorial Stadium in September.

Al-Qadi has never wavered in a desire to follow through on a plan to build a 21,700-capacity arena at on land owned by UWE in Frenchay after inheriting the proposals as part of the deal to buy the club in February.

no comment from the club is strange and possibly worrying, remember this is the club who felt the need to comment on Brexit

Also seems Taylor has a 2 year deal with Rovers with a release clause under £1 million.

Chairman Steve Hamer says that selling leading scorer Matty Taylor during the transfer window is the "last thing" Bristol Rovers are considering.

Newspaper reports have claimed this afternoon that four Championship clubs and Glasgow Rangers are preparing to engage in a 'January transfer war' for Taylor's signature.

Reports claim that Brighton, Cardiff City, QPR and Wolves are preparing to swoop for a player who, the writer claims, has a buy-out clause inserted in his contract that allows him to leave for less than £1million.

Hamer was unwilling to discuss the terms of Taylor's contract, but he did say: "If there is a deal on the table that is good for the football club and good for the player then it is something you have to consider if and when that situation arises.

"But Matty has recently signed a new contract and selling him in the January window is the last thing on our minds at the moment."

Taylor signed a new and improved two-year deal with Rovers in the summer after holding talks with several clubs who were keen to secure his services at a time when he was a free agent.

The striker has continued his prolific run of form over the last two years into the current season in League One and scouts have been flocking to the Memorial Stadium to check on a man who has scored 15 goals in 22 games.

Not really dawe is still chairman of the club for example but there's so many "companies" accosiated with the club it becomes rather confusing

Didn't explain well, I meant it was odd the Rugby Chairman and the Football Chairman both resigned from Bristol Sport on the same day
