Yes. I’ve wound them up about it before . You lot wouldn’t even be here if hitler hadn’t invaded Poland . They get a bit touchy about that because believe it or not. They like to spout about 1982 but when you tell them about 1939 they know nothing about it . ?

Well; the 15ers like to go on about their "Gas Invasions", where a few of them turn up at a nearby match like Swindon or Oxford.

Perhaps there was more to the outbreak of W.W.2. than anybody knew about ?

May be it wasn't the Germans who invaded Poland after all ?

With the threat of relegation out of the football league; it could well have been millions of 15ers, disguised as Germans who invaded, having been locked out of Poland ?

Bristol Rovers are a PLRC (Premier League Rich Club)!

The more you re-read these articles at the time the more you realise how much it reads like emperors new clothes. The press really have to take some of the blame here, there were people on this forum he researched this family more thoroughly than any of the professional journalists and were calling out the misinformation. Of course this was dismissed by the "loyal and true" as pure jealousy. It would be nice if some were prepared to come on here and apologise and admit just how far they fell for this bullshit.

The state of the fewers

I bet he said to his missus look I'm going to write a statement and make all those supporters cry  :D

Fair few posts where they openly admit to having tears? Jesus wept he isn’t even that good, even admitted by a couple of their own players, yet to the fans he’s the best manager they’ve ever had! Shows what a shite history they have when the 2 promotions he has got is from NON LEAGUE and League 2! This statement he’s released today apparently shows his ‘class’ he has no idea what the meaning of the word is, he’s a spoilt child who’s constantly whinging, he’ll never manage above L1.

Interested to know who these two players are?  Cheers.

"What about the new stadium"?

Wally - "The club absolutely requires a new stadium" ........

It seems they edited a bit out...

"Unless we cannot get others to pay for it, and then we will FULLY REDEVELOP Chernobyl with some new curtains, properly steamed cleaned carpets, and have a bar with some lovely orange flavoured pop and cheap crisps, all with a fully installed Babestation channel - and that will be shown on a brand new Matsui 22 inch"

"I will stress that all of this is on the proviso Brexit doesn't come into play, as that will play havoc with the Evolution we have planned"

"Print that B**tard"

Regarding the 1939 re-election to the Third League [South], on May 3rd 1939 Evening Post, the Bristol Rovers FC were facing finacial ruin and needed £2000.00 to prevent the club folding. The Chairman Mr Fred Ashmead said the amount was needed to pay staff and players thro' the summer and one person had promised £500 but the rest was req'd soon. The following days saw public donations but they had not reached the amount.

Then, on the 22nd May 1939 Western Morning News, Rovers were compelled to sell two of their best Players, forward Curran and left back Millar to................Bristol City!

Fred Ashman was so grateful for City to aid them that way and saw them able to survive thro' the close season with less anxiety.

So history may foretell the future of Rovers again........you never know.

That was a genuine gesture of support by City with war looming and with it the likelihood that at least two seasons would pass with no games.

Curran made six appearances in seven years for City before being sold back to Rovers in May 46 when the leagues restarted.

Millar made three appearances before being released.

I’m sure that in the future we will all remember exact where we were the day we first read Dopey’s pitiful letter(s) to the great unwashed, along with their hyperbole shredding overreaction. Just like we can with all their other self inflicted comedy gold that earns them their own place in the Beltersphere. Let’s list them all, lest we forget.

Relegated to non-league by visitors wearing their kit.

Trying to claim the non-league is Div 5

Anyone see the list of the 100 Worst Passwords of 2018 was released yesterday? Reminds me of a recent online account I set up where I tried to use the passphrase: “BristolRoversares***.”

I received a popup warning me I should pick a less common phrase, suggesting “Password” or “123456” instead.

Unlikely, there is a gentleman's agreement not to buy their players.

I agree, he was just as bad though, at no point did he correct the billionaire stories.

The story that Rovers escaped being kicked out of the League due to WW2 is a myth. The League AGM was in May or June, three months before Poland was invaded. Here's a link to the votes. http://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=3506  The Southern clubs seeking admittance to the League were (at the time) not so good as Rovers.

Hartlepools FL 38 re-elected to Division Three (North)
Accrington Stanley FL 29 re-elected to Division Three (North)
South Liverpool LC 5
Scunthorpe & L Utd ML 4
Burton Town ML 0
Wigan Athletic CL 0

Bristol Rovers FL 45 re-elected to Division Three (South)
Walsall FL 36 re-elected to Division Three (South)
Gillingham SL 15
Chelmsford City SL 1
Colchester United SL 1

Interestingly Gillingham had been kicked out in 1938 and didn't get back until the 1950's.

And they made sure they repaid that generosity in 1982 by helping us in any way they could.

I never knew this story. It makes what they tried to do back then even more repugnant.

Surely they are the record holders for ground squatting? Nice for them to rank alongside the defunct Watney Cup, and getting knocked out of the League Cup before it even started as some of their greatest Tinpot achievements?

In other news.....

Altogether now....”How much is that doggy in the window?”.....

Great idea, start getting behind ‘the greatest manager in our history’ once he’s been sacked...

Bunch of idiots

Are they really saying he's the greatest manager in their history?!  Well yes obviously what he's done is far better than that Bert Tann who only gave them ten years of second division football including top half finishes plus beat the Busby Babes 4 0.  What a funny lot they really are.

He is their greatest manager. After 92 years he managed to take them into non-league oblivion. What a memorable season that was too. One minute the headlines were “Rovers confident they will make the playoffs” only to be followed up with “Don’t think Rovers will make the playoffs” and then they derailed out of the football league and we had two divorces and the fatcher years.

Since Oggie Doggie Darrell took over they gave a gift and they kept on giving. C0B70F91-03BD-46BF-A079-8CB40CBB8470.jpeg.3e6933ed7476108d934c5b08dce63ee0.jpeg

I don’t think they’re capable of acknowledging anything pre trumpton days

Surely fruity Francis was better than Dopey? He got them into the second tier, and even managed to keep them there, until he saw the light and bailed.
