Happy anniversary all of you xx

Getting a bit "grainy" and shabby at the edges now isn't it, much like that dump you call home. While you're at it why don't you post your old 8mm reel to reel cine tape of the Watney Cup Final success!

Happy Sir Colin Daniel Day, dearly beloved brethren.

I can’t decide how to celebrate:

Was going to crack open the knock-off Fanta but then remembered the real stuff has links with Nazi Germany so might be more appropriate after all.

Was going to make for Braintree for the day and act like an obnoxious turd but then thought maybe going to Mansfield and accusing all the locals of being Bristol City supporters.

Was going to enjoy a soak in the tub - you can’t beat a Bath - but then thought I should fire up my useless Gas shower instead.

So I decided just to ring Radio Bristol instead and sob uncontrollably down the phone about the local election results and my divorce instead.

Well that's open to debate. However, it's nights like that , that make football magical. That night it went for us, and there were other - what some may consider insignificant- days and nights that went for you. If you discount games like, off the top of my head, when you beat Hartlepool in the play offs and when you got past Hereford (I think) to get to Wembley for the first time, then you are missing out on a huge fun part of the game.

That season was my favourite ever following City all over the Country, we were magnificent to watch with with some great memorable away days but i’m not going to lie, it hurt like hell losing out the Championship to Rovers.

Same here. I was bombing down the A303 and had to pull into a layby I was laughing so much.

Happy days!

I was driving home listening to Radio Bristol, and was so caught up in the developing situation that I just kept driving, straight past my turning, and drove around until the game was over.I then couldn’t resist driving down Gloucester rd,the look on the sags faces was a sight to behold,in contrast to the beaming smile on my face.My passenger, the wife?,wasn’t so impressed, telling me to stop smirking before one of the few clocked me and realised I was a red.

1990 was tough to take at the time but in retrospect it really didn’t amount to much - we went up too, had the satisfaction of effectively relegating the Rent Boys in ‘93, and from then on their bragging rights over us became fewer and farther between - finished above us and won a couple of games in our dreadful seasons of 95/96 and 99/00, but where we’d couldnt buy a win at Twerton we won three times in a calendar year at their current dump and they’ve pretty much been in the wilderness ever since.

You could make a case that they had a hold over us until we won a promotion with a title in 2015, but then even that advantage vanished - while we finished runner up to them and went up in 1990, 25 years later we were promoted as champions and they went up as runners up two leagues down - having fortuitously come through the lottery of penalties.

1990 is an irrelevance now.

Well you would of thought so, but according to a Fewer.......

It's almost worth suffering these years below them just knowing we'll always have this over them.

Such a weird fanbase, there really is no-one like them

So in other words, we (Gas) never want to be as successful as they are, because at least then we (Gas) can't ever finish as runners up to them (us).

Special is the word that comes to mind.

She was right! - Clearasil is tough to get off the windows of a vehicle - just ask that minibus load of away fans.

So speaks a fan of a mundane, lower league club. "Hartlepool" and "Hereford," mate; you've said it all there. And you can throw "Bristol Rovers" in with those two. Pitiful.

Hasn't it ever been thus in Bristol - the low/zero ambition/appetite for challenge, we-know-our-place blue few consumed with derision and bitter resentment for the ambitious/deluded, ever-dreaming-big upstart south of the river (but secretly wishing for some of what we have achieved, and continue to strive for), never quite accepting our "place"?

If Spurs have "The Game is about Glory" writ large at their ground, what would the Rovers equivalent be? The Game is about ..... ?

I agree with Miah tbh. It’s our history , like it or not. That was their day and of course we would of wanted to win the title, ridiculous to suggest other wise. You're coming across a bit arrogant in regards to our days in the third/ fourth division. It happened and some of my favourite days under terry cooper back then. That Hereford night will always live with me. Just four years after nearly being extinct to walk out at Wembley was amazing. Never forget your history. It’s what defines us as a club.

Do I ever want to go back to league 1 , no chance , of course not but I’ve got a lot more respect for lower league fans than any plastic prem armchair fans.

With us not in action til Sunday I was thinking of going down the Mammary Saturday to see Barnsley try to clinch the League One title.

Think I’m right in saying that Bristol City supporters are given priority ticket purchasing opportunities for the away end for the Gash’s last home game of the campaign? That was the arrangement in place for the Mansfield game a few years ago if I recall rightly?

Wasn’t it the season afterwards, that they couldn’t beat Bath..?!

I don’t think that @Moments of Pleasure Was being serious. I agree with you, it’s our history that makes us who we are and means we should enjoy being a top 8 Championship club, for now.

The difference is... we look back fondly on those 3rd tier days. The Rovers strive for them..!

Regarding 1990 it still hurts like hell

and though I hate to say it , it is the one thing they will always have over us

magic season with a tragic ending.....
