Can anyone provide an estimate of what it would cost to buy the land, clear it, put in an access structure and actually build a modern football stadium?

I suppose they could just dismantle the Mem tents and pitch them at the market along with their caravans and untaxed and uninsured pick up trucks and claim squatters rights.

Estimate for the stadium build alone would be 45m - 50m for a standard finish.

Cost of the land plus 40 or 50 million - might be higher post-Brexit if tariffs are applied to imported materials.

I seem to have touched a nerve. So, which one is it then? You seem to be denying both. We're either a vile club or a club that went bankrupt, which according to you, didn't do us any harm. Where's the smiley face? ?

In typical Gas fashion we’re at 25K having started at a more realistic 20K. How long before the bloody thing is bigger than Old Trafford?

Thanks NU, I thought I was going mad. Wally said the pipedream stadium was 20,000 capacity didn't he? Where did the extra 5,000 come from?

No doubt, by tomorrow it will be 30,000 even though it won't be built as they would have to actually pay for it and couldn't afford a £20K transfer fee. Maybe they should ask Tomas Kalas to lend them a week's wages eh?

after the takeover by the "Fake Sheik" that Rovers still didn't have a chamber pot to sh!t in,

As one lucky enough to have spent time in the Middle East I assure you 'The Fake Sheikh' would consider use of a chamber pot an irrelevance given there's so much scrubland and wasteland at the Mem. When in and with the Roma, as they say....

It’s literally “what they do”. As a fan base they are full of exaggeration and BS. 20K isn’t close enough to “the other lot” so let’s get it out there that it’s 25K and in time we’ll all believe it as fact ourselves!!

That's how it is when you are BOTTOM of the league.

3rd from bottom to be fair- could be worse :)

So we haven't played yet but are still in the top half of the new table ... while the only teams below the gas have had a 12 point deduction...

And the only team below you begin with 'R'

Spoke to someone today with a financial interest in the fruit market.

Said that a conditional offer to purchase the site had been received, but it would have to be agreed by 75% of the owners and that there are multiple parties that own the site, so far from straightforward.

Also mentioned a 7 to 9 year time scale, so where Wael is getting a two year build from is anyone’s guess? Presumably time would be needed to relocate from the fruit market, aside from all of the other hurdles and issues mentioned in previous threads.

Of course not.

In the last twenty five years you've been mushrooms, that's not going to change.

You've got to be the most gullible, idiotic fans there ever were. Not only would you be doing us a favour by going out of existence, you'd be setting an example for all other candidates of the Darwin awards.

The 'other' team in Bristol... pmsl.

Have a nice night. Don't let the door hit your sister's arse on the way out.

Things not going so well for Hollowhead.

Over the summer is failed to get as many jobs as Rovers have failed to sign players.

His regular column in the EP, reportedly where ‘The former Bristol Rovers and Blackpool manager gives his insight into both camps’ is all about him, him, him.

Still an enjoyable read though...

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-holloway-graham-coughlan-right-3163100

Did I read that right? They asked him to send a detailed response as to why he he should be the new Plymouth manager and he gave a brief reply asking to meet with them?

Announcement expected imminently from Dwane Sports to say they are purchasing a valuable tract of land at St Phillips, Bristol on which they will build a new 20 000 capacity multi-sports stadium. The development will also include a hotel, offices, restaurants, cinema complex and associated parking.

The project is said to be financed  through the support of the Bahrain Arab  International Bank (BAIB) and the Kuwait Asia Bank.

The Memorial ground will get sold off to fund the scheme, hotels etc will get built using that money, and then when it comes to building the football stadium the money would have ran out.
