The only upside would be if we were playing for the title/promotion and won it against them, doubly so if it relegated them. The pure emotion would outdo what the expected result was. Sky probably just assumed that it was time the Fewers signed someone people might know. Rather than the usual headline of 'Dreams shattered as The Blue Few can't afford to sign an Irish schoolboy'.
