Ha. I have a 2013 Rovers ball in my loft. Signed by all the players. One day I'll get around to passing it on to the sags so they can auction it for a good cause, else I'd sling it.

A lot of fans mention that rovers were dominant in that era but looking at stats we beat them more than they beat us in the 90's. From what i can see we had a spell of four seasons without beating them between 87 and 91.

Were they finishing higher in the league tbetween 80's and 90's (other than 90 and 91) ?

Maybe not dominant, but certainly a lot more competitive than what they’ve been in the last 20 years. In that 90’s era, we had a couple of drubbings from them that were particularly hard to take.

Skeletel man on Talk shite just now......asked by either Hawksbee or Jacobs about Bristol City being in the play off places......I thought he was going to choke. He did manage a few good words about us and the stadium before stating that Bristol needs a club in the Premier league as City were there for only one season before plummeting down to the 4th division. Gas logic turning 4 into 1 ?... and on national radio

Typical bitter nob head.

Knows the truth but has to lie.

Its like a chronic disease they all suffer from.

You try and get an original design nowadays. They all have these stupid slanted pockets in the side and are called truckers jackets, or so I was told yesterday by the salesman in Dulay. Two buttons done up on the chest and left to flair open.

Sadly @Rich that's how ALL of my jackets are worn these days.  Whilst a button or two at chest height are just about do-able for me, anything further South has the obstruction of a gut that shows years of investment in apple pickers and sangria harvesters!

They just can’t help themselves, he says that they (City) get over 15,000 (its actually over 20,000) and Rovers get under 10,000 (it’s actually under 8,000) so the gap is actually 12,000 on an average home game, not 5,000 as implied in order to give the impression that there’s not much in it

That's would be the only and i repeat only, positive from them in the same division as us; everyone could see how poor their support is compared to ours.

In all fairness he is actually correct on both counts.Twisted logic but unusually a Fewer being accurate for once.

Last time they actually averaged a more than 10K attendance was in 1976.

Over 15,000 ?.

They're right to be fair - we get their entire home attendance over 15,000!

Just can’t bring themselves to say “over 20,000” can they?

Desperate to make the gap in attendances seem much closer than it is to protect their ickle feelings and not highlight how shit their support is.

They’re 4th in L1, best start to the season in donkeys years and they’ve been getting crowds of 7k and below.

Just let that sink in....?

But of course, they’ve always got excuses...bike rides, summer holidays, too close to Christmas, can’t just turn up with a pocket full of shrapnel and pay at the turnstiles, Champions League on the TV, Darrells gone....DARRELLS GONE ?

A difference of 14,851

7,202 x 3 = 21,606

We get treble their average with 447 to spare.

For absolute fairness though we should probably take a look at what our average was in the last season that we were in a similar position to where they currently are. The last time we were high up in L1 was obviously the season we won it - 2014/15. Looking around at a few sources, including those already used it looks as though we averaged 12,056 at home in the league over the whole season. Highest attendance was over 13,700 for Yeovil on Boxing Day.

There's an argument that we could have had a higher gate as at the start of that season the Wedlock was demolished - although our max capacity was still around 16,000 at that stage so realistically this probably didn't have a huge affect on our attendances.
