Their average attendance for last 10 years is 7334. Their average attendance this year 7397 - lower than Lincoln, MK Dons, Blackpool and Rotherham - marginally above peterborough

You mean the MK Dons that have only been in existence since 2004 from a town that has only been in existence since the late 60's?

Surely the R*vers who have been in existence since the late 1800's from a city that has been around since the 11th century would be able to garner a larger following than a club and a town that have next to no history?

They do have da famuss quarterzz after all.

Who’s bigger . Rovers or Swindon

That's like saying do you prefer piles or the clap.

Its definitely Swindon. They have actually achieved some success in their history and have won the League Cup. They have also played in the Premier League and at the time if they could have kept hold of Glenn Hoddle as a manager they would have achieved more success.

Obviously the sags' Watney Cup success runs that very close though.

Read their site for the first time in a while. Saw a post that was interesting...

Gas Logic eh...love it! Granted it seems a pretty generous gesture tbh to the poster but let's look at a few facts:

Quote

I’ve bought one for the new season for the first time in years, not because I’ll use it as I play on Saturdays, but because I’m financially in a position to do so and hope it helps securing our short term future.

Fair enough, altruism- but well I dunno what to say other than to laugh! It's a mixture of altruism and terrible business sense so far...

Quote

However, the majority are not going to be like me with next to no responsibilities, so to ask people to spend hundreds of pounds on something they have no idea when they’ll be able to use it, may have been furloughed and As such are not being paid as much (if at all) is a massive ask for something that is not an essential in life.

Not really selling the prospect to me so far if I'm wondering about what to do for the coming season...

Quote

if anyone can’t afford a ST for the new season due to the burden corona has put on all of us, I’ve got an adult ST in the blackthorn end they can use every now and then when I’m playing so just give me a shout ??

Ha- again altruism yes, I get that- but if you're passing round the season ticket the club will benefit even less!! ?

That's before we even look at when people will even be able to attend games again- though I guess social distancing isn't an issue at their ground anyway- did they need to shut down from a spectators POV.

Gotta laugh really...part of me wonders if it's a club employee or mole looking to lure people in with this offer so they can find who has been passing around tickets/sharing tickets and ban them/recover some cash!

Because if it isn't, the basic premise- and yes thjere seems to be an element of altruism for sure, but the basic premise is:

  1. Buy season ticket
  2. That you- or nobody else- will be able to use thusfar due to Social Distancing measures that may last for months yet.
  3. That you won't be able to use due to football at amateur level (though much different to Rovers quality)?
  4. Lending out a season ticket is one less ticket or season ticket that someone else might by- so the club don't gain anything and probably lose if anything. Plus if one instead of two, less spent on a matchday!

Either a sting or GasLogic- Love it! ?

If it's the former, bet a few will fall for it too!

R*overs have far less history than MK Dons - they`ve only been a league club since 2015 after all. MK Dons are steeped in tradition by comparison.

look out if hes looking to employ local workforce,i wouldnt trust one of them to put a battery in my mouse the right way round let alone assemble electric cars

Oh no, Mr Al-Quidi has employed the well respected company MJ Abbott Ltd and so long as stage payments continue to be met the training ground will look something like the one the firm did for Stevenage FC . Opened in 2013, when “the Boro” finished 18th in League 1, this state of the art development has helped propel them to the National League.

Hey, we musn't forget they once won the What Knee? Cup. Surely, that makes them a massive club.

But just like Bristol, the barrel was red.

They're probably bitter about that too.

Their acheivements pale (ale) in comparison to many others in Leagues One and Two.

I would imagine they are probably very mildly pissed off about it as well.

'AVE IT!!!

Ah yes, but let’s not forget that the Gas with their ‘massive’ fanbase...which is lower than Lincoln, Rotherham, Blackpool and MK Dons (FFS ?) are, apparently, bigger than many clubs in the Championship ??

I wonder who he means by ‘the enemies’?

Deluded idiots...

....and every team on that list has competed in the top tier of English football - and the sags haven’t, ever ... yep, they are bigger than all those clubs! And don’t forget they’ve also compared the size of their club and support to Norwich, Wolves, West Ham - and they’ve even claimed their away support matches Liverpool ... it’s simply an ongoing comedy ...

I've just read the original name for the old hospital on the colony site they've bought. Seems rather coincidental. ;)

When he says "worked", does he mean "was a patient"....

Exactly.  Stevenage were fortunate in that the land had been properly prepared  before football pitches were laid out and in the 1960’s international teams even trained there.

At the Colony one can imagine the experts from MJ Abbott recommending that Mr Al-Quidi have them make a proper survey of the pitch foundations laid by the rugby club and, if necessary, give him a quote for the installation of a suitable drainage system. And it can be predicted that the serial blundered would ignore the advice of the experts and his colleagues and, in a last desperate attempt to placate his Bristol Post led fan club,  tell MJ Abbott to “please, just go ahead and lay some turf”.

It will be some time before we discover if winter weather makes the pitches unplayable and training sessions are confined to a subbuteo table in the analysis suite.  But the chances are that Wendy is right, and we can  look forward to a soggy reincarnation of the M J Abbott madhouse.

You have got to be joking? Multi European Champions, trophy strewn history and premier league champions elect Liverpool or some pub side with the same name?

All the rest are an absolute joke as well BTW.

We don't compare with many of the clubs they're 'bigger than' and we're on a totally different level to the methane snorters anyway.

Popped onto Delusion Central and found this;

Hortham was an "open" colony which specialised in training mentally defective offenders for resettlement in the community

Not a lot will change then. I am surprised they didn't find a donkey sanctuary

They were saying on their ‘forum’ that their away support is basically the same as Liverpool’s because both of them “sell out their full allocations wherever they go...” - just try and take that in ... ???
