Bristol R*vers dustbin thread

Even if the family are worth far more than that, it's pretty meaningless. We've had an actual billionaire as owner for a long time and it didn't stop us struggling in League One, getting relegated from the Championship and has yet to get us into the Premier League.

Wael's family being worth £80m, £200m or £500m also doesn't mean they'll put any cash into a horrible little club of inbreds.

Exactly.

Whilst they are at the Mem and limited to a percentage of income against the wages they can pay, they are always going to be fighting with one hand tied behind their backs.

They need a new stadium, initially to consolidate and then to build.

That is roughly correct based on their holdings in AJIB and the hotel group and if they held significant stakes in other companies doubtless we should have been told about it in the heady days of 2016.

If the President is telling trusted friends in the Bristol area that he has 100 million to spend on BRFC then either his wealth has been seriously underestimated or he has taken leave of his senses.

I suppose the inheritance has enabled him to carry out some works to the colony and state that he's in a much stronger position by transferring the debt from the club to himself, which was the same thing anyway, as no money has changed hands. As such, he now seems to be stronger, when it comes to negotiating any deal as part of a consortium. Whereas before, he was only a part owner covering his own debt, now it's all his own debt.

Spread some BS about having 100m to spend, which could be true if he borrowed it from his families bank, then he could be invited to the table as discussions to develop the Fruit Bowl. Sounds as if it's just bravado, otherwise he'd be saying he'll buy the Fruit Market himself and self finance the new stadium.

My stance is, he's posturing and desperate to be invited, that's why the rumours have been put out there.

.... We only take 1,000 regularly to away games ...

No exactly what the stats say.

I've also attached the highest attendances at the tent shop and Ashton Gate (away includes the total attendance so I've not shown this).

They want to build a 20,000 - 30,000 capacity stadium yet since 2017 they've only gone over an attendance of 10,000 5 times.

Some rovers fans are lovely (Miah for one) but there is a gap between us and them and unless Wael is prepared to invest hard like Lansdown that Gap will remain.

Not quite right.  They need to build a fan base before they should be thinking about building another stadium.

Wycombe 1 - 0 up, they're coming for you !

Be a meltdown on AssChat if Wycombe go up - just goes to show how badly managed they’ve been that Wycombe are leaving  them behind - even with their billionaire owner

Wouldn't it be ironic if it was the moronic sags' wetting their plastic pants and crying into their shandy's over Wycombe that helped galvanise them into ultimately winning promotion.

Well done Wycombe, a job well done & even the winning goal was scored by an ex sag. You couldn't write it!

Unlucky da sags.

T o be fair to the methane brigade, they couldn't win. Either Wycombe go up or the snake would have done.

I wonder if they'll have a court case now the Chairboys have gone up? ;)

Oh yeah, that’s right. They desperately tried to save themselves from Non League by trying to put another club who had major financial problems out of business over a transfer made years prior.

Detestable maggots.

Hope Matty bags a hat trick against them next season. ?

They have a reason to hate every club in the football league. Conversely fans of every club in the football league think that they are wonderful.

With the possibility of football returning with no away fans it could be a struggle next season for the blue few financially

No crowd boosters with games against Sunderland, Plymouth, Swindon, Ipswich, Portsmouth they could struggle to turn the lights on at the end of the season with only 5k people turning up for a home game

As someone who has worked and lived in Wycombe in the past, it’s nice to see a team playing in “da famous quarterrz” get some success at last.

It was nice to hear the numerous mentions of them nearly going out of the league on GD a few years back - I wonder who went instead.

No doubt there's now going to be an outbreak of Teds wandering around Bristol in their Ted Football Shirts following B. Johnson's requirements for face mask wearing. The masks will cover their ID, saving them from the usual embarrassment and ridicule.

Possibly the unproven link with Gérard and the subsequent musing by our fans about his pros and cons?
